Biography
Dr. Wanatpreeya Phongsamart is a pediatric infectious disease specialist with over 20 years of experience. Her clinical and research interests focus on Streptococcus pneumoniae, vaccines and vaccine-preventable diseases, and antimicrobial resistance. In 2005, she founded the Pneumococcal Laboratory Network to monitor serotype distribution and antimicrobial susceptibility patterns in Central Thailand. She currently serves as the principal investigator for a national study evaluating the effectiveness of reduced dose pneumococcal conjugate vaccine schedules, and in 2025, she launched a nationwide study on the serotype distribution of Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates across 77 hospitals. She has authored 79 peer-reviewed publications in her field.
