ABOUT US

Established in 1990, the Pediatric Infectious Disease Research Unit began with research on the prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV and the NAPHA program, laying the groundwork for pediatric HIV care in Thailand.

Over the course of more than three decades, the unit has conducted over 150 studies on both acute and chronic infectious diseases, making significant contributions to the global body of knowledge in pediatric healthcare. These studies have not only provided critical insights into the prevention and treatment of these diseases but have also contributed to the development of vaccines for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. Through these extensive research efforts, Ped ID research unit has been at the forefront of vaccine development, playing a key role in both early and late-phase trials over the last two decades.

Collaboration has been a cornerstone of Ped ID’s success. We have worked closely with Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), the National Vaccine Institute, local universities, and international organizations such as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the AIDS Clinical Trials Group network (ACTG), and the International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials (IMPAACT) Network. Furthermore, partnerships with prestigious global institutions like Emory University and Morduoch University have allowed Ped ID to bridge knowledge across borders, ensuring that the latest research and clinical practices are shared on a global scale.
