13 August 2025, The 2025 Annual Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) teleconference for SiCORE-DO (Siriraj Center of Research Excellence in Diabetes and Obesity) was successfully convened, featuring distinguished experts in precision medicine and diabetes research.
Prof. Gordon H. Williams, a renowned expert in precision medicine from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and Prof. George L. King, an expert in diabetic complications and Professor of Medicine and Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, both brought their extensive knowledge and experience to the table as Scientific Advisory Board members for the SiCORE-DO at Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. Their participation was instrumental in offering expert guidance and critical evaluation of ongoing research efforts.
The SiCORE-DO research team presented comprehensive progress updates on key projects conducted over the past year. Emphasis was placed on genetic studies related to familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) and lipoprotein subfractions, as well as research into non-obese type 2 diabetes—a distinctive area of focus. The SAB provided valuable feedback, encouraging intensified exploration of these unique clinical profiles and underscoring the importance of seeking collaborative international or industry partnerships to sustain and expand research activities.
The teleconference concluded with strategic discussions on strengthening research networks across multiple institutions and refining future research directions, reinforcing SiCORE-DO’s commitment to advancing translational science in diabetes and obesity.
