From October 16th<\/sup> – 31st<\/sup>, 2024, a team from the Division of Medical Bioinformatics<\/strong>, Department of Research, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, led an intensive training workshop titled \u201cNanopore Sequencing Workshop: Lactic Acid Bacterial Genome Sequencing and Bioinformatics\u201d<\/strong> at the University of Parma, Italy<\/strong>. Conducted by Lecturer Thidathip Wongsurawat, Ph.D.<\/strong>, Lecturer Piroon Jenjaroenpun, Ph.D.<\/strong>, Lecturer Worarat Kruasuwan, Ph.D.<\/strong>, and Research Technical Officer Ms. Aunthikarn Sudjai<\/strong>, the workshop paved the way for collaboration between the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and the University of Parma, culminating in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Building on this collaboration, the Siriraj team was invited as instructors for the MYCOBEANS<\/strong> project workshop, \u201cExploring (Emerging) Mycotoxins Risk in Beans: A Global Alliance for Climate Change Resilience,\u201d<\/strong> held from October 28th<\/sup> – 29th<\/sup>, 2024. This workshop gathered over 50 participants from various European countries, covering topics such as:<\/p>\n

\u201cIntroduction to Oxford Nanopore Technologies & Its Applications\u201d<\/em> by Lecturer Thidathip Wongsurawat, Ph.D.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIntroduction to MinKNOW\u201d<\/em> by Lecturer Piroon Jenjaroenpun, Ph.D.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cOverview of the Bioinformatics Pipeline for Nanopore Data Analysis\u201d<\/em> and \u201cEPI2ME \u2013 Real-time Data Analysis Q&A with Participants\u2019 Projects\u201d<\/em> by Lecturer Piroon Jenjaroenpun, Ph.D.<\/strong>, and the Siriraj Long-read Lab (Si-LoL)<\/strong> team<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cONT Flow Cell Priming and Loading\u201d<\/em> and \u201cLibrary Preparation\u201d<\/em> by Lecturer Worarat Kruasuwan, Ph.D.<\/strong>, and the Si-LoL team<\/strong><\/p>\n

During this event, Lecturer Thidathip Wongsurawat, Ph.D., and the Si-LoL team presented the signed MOU from the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, to the University of Parma. They also engaged with principal investigators across various faculties, exploring future international funding and research collaborations, further strengthening ties between the two institutions.<\/p>\n
