The Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, successfully organized the 4th<\/sup> International PoCUS 2025 Bangkok Workshop<\/strong> from February 13th<\/sup> \u2013 15th<\/sup>, 2025, at Salil Riverside Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. The event brought together renowned PoCUS specialists, including Prof. Vincent Chan<\/strong>, Prof. Andr\u00e9 Denault<\/strong>, Assoc. Prof. Oliver Panzer<\/strong>, Assoc. Prof. Nibras Bughrara<\/strong>, Dr. Lars Knudsen<\/strong>, and Dr. Ashokka Balakrishnan<\/strong>, alongside Siriraj’s expert anesthesiologists, such as Assoc. Prof. Suwimon Tangwiwat<\/strong>, Dr. Suthaporn Lumlertkul<\/strong>, Dr. Chalermchai Taesiri<\/strong>, Asst. Prof. Vithaya Chaithirapha<\/strong>, Dr. Monprawee Amprai<\/strong>, Asst. Prof. Aphichaya Mansomboon<\/strong>, and Assoc. Prof. Annop Piriyapatsom<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The workshop featured a comprehensive curriculum, including hands-on training<\/strong> in airway management<\/em>, cardiac ultrasound<\/em>, and FAST scan techniques<\/em>; critical discussions<\/strong> on PoCUS applications in cardiac arrest<\/em>, PDA<\/em>, and the use of vasopressors and inotropes<\/em>; as well as simulation labs<\/strong> presenting realistic pathological cases<\/em>.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Participants gained valuable knowledge on the indications, technical skills, and clinical applications of point-of-care ultrasound. The workshop also covered the scope of diagnostic PoCUS relevant to perioperative anesthesiologists, focusing on cardiac, lung, and gastric ultrasound, deep vein thrombosis detection, and ultrasound-guided nerve blocks and vascular access.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

With the rapid expansion of ultrasound applications across various clinical settings, PoCUS has become an essential tool in anesthesia. It is utilized at the bedside to guide procedures such as nerve blocks and vascular access or to provide diagnostic insights. The American Society of Anesthesiologists has endorsed PoCUS use among trained clinicians, reinforcing its growing role in modern anesthetic practice.<\/span><\/div>\n
