Our History
Thai Traditional Medicine is regarded as a valuable national heritage, encompassing significant theories, principles, and healthcare practices according to Thai traditional methodologies. This field includes a wide range of herbal medicines and products that have been accumulated by Thai ancestors and inherited as a national legacy to the present day. Therefore, it is highly appropriate that younger generations participate in preserving, inheriting, and further developing Thai Traditional Medicine in order to ensure sustainable progress, establish clearly recognized standards, and gain acceptance and respect at both national and international levels. Such advancement will provide substantial benefits to the nation, particularly in terms of economic development and self-reliance.

Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhornand graciously bestowed a new name upon the school: Ayuravedh Thamrong School, meaning “a school that preserves and upholds knowledge of Ayurveda.” This represents an immense royal benevolence.Ayurved Thamrong School provides education and healthcare services encompassing all 4 branches of Thai Traditional Medicine:
- Thai Traditional Medicine Diagnosis and treatment based on Thai traditional medical theory.
- Thai Traditional Pharmacy Preparation and production of herbal medicines for therapeutic use.
- Thai Traditional Therapeutic Massage Treatment through therapeutic massage. Siriraj Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine specializes in the Court -type Thai traditional massage.
- Thai Traditional Midwifery Care for pregnant women, childbirth delivery, postpartum care, and neonatal care.
Ayurved Thamrong School, under the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, has established guiding principles to ensure the sustainability and broader integration of Thai Traditional Medicine within the national healthcare system.
Key missions are developed educational management: advancing standardized education to produce effective competent practitioners; enhancing the quality, safety, and public trust of clinical services; and promoting research to strengthen the scientific evidence base of Thai Traditional Medicine.
