Bachelor of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine
Curriculum: Bachelor of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine Program (Revised Curriculum, 2026)
Program Level : Bachelor’s Degree
Program Title: Bachelor of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine (B.ATM.)
Program Structure : A four-year professional undergraduate program designed in accordance with the Learning Outcomes Framework for Applied Thai Traditional Medicine.
Total Credits Required : A minimum of 147 credits is required for completion of the program.
Educational Philosophy
The program aims to produce competent graduates in Applied Thai Traditional Medicine who possess professional ethics, integrity, and a positive attitude toward the profession. Graduates are equipped with knowledge and competencies in science and medical sciences as a foundation for the application of Thai Traditional Medicine in clinical practice and for the advancement of the profession to ensure quality, effectiveness, safety, and sustainable integration within the healthcare system.
The curriculum is designed based on the principles of outcome-based education and learning-centered education, emphasizing meaningful learning experiences and the development of essential competencies required for professional practice and lifelong learning. The program encourages learners to integrate new experiences with prior knowledge in order to independently develop new knowledge, competencies, and skills through a constructivist approach. In addition, the curriculum promotes graduate attributes in alignment with the Mahidol University Graduate Attributes.
Program Goals
The program is dedicated to equipping students with the comprehensive knowledge and competencies required of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine practitioners, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, effective, and safe clinical services in accordance with professional standards. The curriculum aims to enhance students’ potential for the continuous advancement of knowledge and professional practice within the field.
Furthermore, the program encourages lifelong learning and self-directed learning skills, while fostering desirable graduate attributes according to the identities of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital and Mahidol University.
Program Objectives
The program aims to produce graduates in Applied Thai Traditional Medicine with the following competencies:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of basic medical sciences, Thai Traditional Medicine, and related fields essential for clinical practice.
- Provide holistic healthcare through Applied Thai Traditional Medicine clinical practice in accordance with professional standards for practitioners.
- Produce herbal medicines and herbal products in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
- Demonstrate professional ethics and integrity appropriate for Applied Thai Traditional Medicine practitioners, while recognizing global health awareness within the professional context.
- Possess effective communication skills with patients, families, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with others to ensure safe, high-quality healthcare practice in accordance with professional standards.
- Develop an entrepreneurial mindset to continuously integrate contemporary knowledge and professional skills in Applied Thai Traditional Medicine, ensuring adaptability to future societal shifts and technological advancements.
- Possess research concepts and approaches to support the advancement of Thai Traditional Medicine.
- Demonstrate digital literacy skills for lifelong learning and continuous self-development.
Program–level Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to:
PLO 1: Apply knowledge of basic medical sciences, Thai Traditional Medicine, and related fields to provide the scientific and clinical rationale underlying Applied Thai Traditional Medicine practice.
PLO 2: Diagnose and develop holistic treatment plans proper to patients’ problems, prioritizing patient well-being and adhering strictly to professional standards.
PLO 3: Perform clinical procedures in accordance with Applied Thai Traditional Medicine professional standards, ensuring correct, effective, and safe execution.
PLO 4: Produce herbal medicines and herbal products in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
PLO 5: Design appropriate research processes in Applied Thai Traditional Medicine with consideration for research ethics.
PLO 6: Demonstrate ethical behavior, professional ethics in Thai Traditional Medicine, academic integrity, embodying the unique identity and values of Siriraj graduates.
PLO 7: Collaborate effectively with others in the role of an Applied Thai Traditional Medicine practitioner to achieve shared goals.
PLO 8: Communicate effectively through listening, speaking, reading, writing, and various media platforms, precisely aligning with the objectives of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine practice.
PLO 9: Cultivate systematic self-development through self-assessment, goal planning, and self-directed learning in professional practice.
PLO 10: Utilize information technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance clinical practice, research, lifelong learning, and service innovation in Thai Traditional Medicine, while adhering to ethical principles and cultural sensitivity.
Prospective Applicants
Applicant Qualifications:
- Applicants must have completed Upper Secondary Education (Grade 12 / Mattayom 6) under the Basic Education Core Curriculum B.E. 2544 (A.D. 2001) or its equivalent. The total earned credits in core and elective courses must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Science: Minimum of 22 credits
- Mathematics: Minimum of 12 credits
- English: Minimum of 9 credits
Applicants from non-formal education programs or international educational systems must have completed equivalent coursework in accordance with the above requirements.
- Applicants must demonstrate good conduct and be in good physical and mental health, free from serious communicable diseases or conditions that may interfere with their studies and/or professional practice.
- Applicants must meet all additional qualifications and requirements as prescribed by the University.
Admission Criteria:
Selection and admission processes strictly comply with the central regulations for higher education admissions established by the Office of the Higher Education Commission, or the admission regulations for special admission programs of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital or Mahidol University.
Duration of Study : 4 years
