During October 23rd – 26th, 2023, the representatives from Mahidol University led by Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, M.D., the President of Mahidol University; along with Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue S. Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Vice President for Corporate Communication & International Relations, Mahidol University; Assoc. Prof. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Ph.D., Director of the Institute for Technology and Innovation Management (iNT), Mahidol University; Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, M.D., Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication & International Relations, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University; and Asst. Prof. Suchin Worawichawong, M.D., Assistant Dean for International Relations and Research Collaboration, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University; embarked on a mission to visit five prominent universities and research institutions within the People’s Republic of China. The primary objective of this visit was to initiate discussions on potential collaborations within the realm of medical research and education.
The delegation sought opportunities for collaboration with esteemed institutions, including Nankai University, Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology (TIB) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Zhejiang University (Zijingang Campus), The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University, Zhongshan Hospital, Zhongshan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Ruijin Hospital, ShanghaiTech University, Fudan University (Handan Campus), and Huashan Hospital. In-depth conversations revolved around potential research partnerships spanning diverse fields, such as Traditional Medicine, Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Organ Transplantation, Pancardiovascular Diseases, and Biomedical Engineering.
The delegation also considered opportunities for student and faculty exchanges and discussed knowledge sharing in Hospital Management. An agreement was reached with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) to promote entrepreneurial initiatives.
During their visit, Mahidol University also had fruitful discussions with Ms. Prinat Apirat, Consul-General of The Royal Thai Consulate-General, Shanghai, regarding strategies to increase Chinese student enrollment, enhance industry collaborations, and expand partnerships with other Chinese institutions.
