Published December 1st, 2023, on the concluding day of the Siriraj delegation’s insightful journey through China, Prof. Apichat Asavamongkolkul, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, led the esteemed group to the forefront of genomic research. The day commenced with an eye-opening tour of the China National Genebank (CNGB), where the delegation was welcomed to the ring screen exhibition hall. The interactive exhibition provided a captivating introduction to the groundbreaking work undertaken by CNGB.
The delegation then delved into a comprehensive exploration of CNGB’s state-of-the-art facilities, gaining firsthand insights into the meticulous processes involved in preserving genetic material, managing vast datasets, and advancing the frontiers of genomics. Continuing their journey, the Siriraj delegation transferred to the Beijing Genomic Institute (BGI) Center for a symposium that served as a platform for representatives from BGI and Siriraj to engage in meaningful discussions about their shared vision for the future. The symposium provided a dynamic exchange of ideas, fostering a deeper understanding of each institution’s strengths and aspirations in the rapidly evolving field of genomics.
Following the symposium, the delegation embarked on a guided tour of the BGI Center, receiving a comprehensive introduction to BGI’s multifaceted contributions to genomic research, ranging from groundbreaking discoveries to cutting-edge technologies.
