New Research Publication
We are delighted to announce that Tatjirat Phothipakraksa, Dr. Udomporn Manupibul, Dr. Jutamat Pinitlertsakun, and Nattapon Limrattanakan have contributed as the first author, corresponding author, and co-authors, respectively, to the newly published research article:
“The Effect of Transfemoral Lateral Brim to the Stability, Specific Force Acting on the Socket and Socket Comfort”
This pilot study designed a Modified Ischial Containment Socket (ICS), with a lowered lateral brim, to address restricted hip motion during daily activities experienced by Southeast Asian transfemoral amputees. Findings revealed that both socket designs provided equivalent walking performance and stability. The modified ICS improved force distribution along the medial aspect and reduced pressure on the ischial ramus, but yielded a slightly lower comfort score than traditional ICS. Overall, the modified socket could balance between functional performance and cultural considerations, making it a promising clinical alternative.
