On November 21st – 23rd, 2024, the “6th International EDRA-Approved Cadaver Workshop for Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anesthesia” and the “EDRA Board Examination” successfully took place at the Siriraj Training and Education Center for Clinical Skills (SiTEC), Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.

This prestigious event was a collaboration between the Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, The European Society of Regional Anaesthesia & Pain Therapy, and B. Braun (Thailand) Ltd.

The workshop, held on November 21st –22nd, provided hands-on training and advanced knowledge, while the EDRA Board Examination on November 23rd evaluated and certified participants’ expertise. A total of 49 participants from across Asia, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Japan, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, joined this international event.

Associate Professor Pramote Euasobhon, MD, from the Division of Pain Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a distinguished guest speaker at the “KPS, ISPS, WSPC 2024 Co-hosting Meeting” in Seoul, Republic of Korea, between November 14th – 17th, 2024. He delivered two insightful lectures: “tDCS/rTMS/rPMS for the Treatment of Neuropathic Pain” and “Cryoablation for Chronic Pain”.

This participation not only reinforces Siriraj Hospital’s international academic presence but also brings direct benefits, including:

– Enhanced knowledge of non-invasive pain management procedures to advance practices at Siriraj Hospital.

The “KPS, ISPS, WSPC 2024 Co-hosting Meeting” jointly organized by the Korean Pain Society (KPS), the International Spinal Pain Society (ISPS), and the World Society of Pain Clinicians (WSPC), serves as the world’s premier academic event in pain medicine. The conference featured renowned experts presenting the latest advancements in pain medicine, encompassing basic and clinical research, novel medications, and cutting-edge techniques. Highlights also included cadaver and ultrasound workshops.

With over 1,200 participants from 25+ countries, the meeting underscored its global significance in driving innovation and collaboration in the field of pain management.

Asst. Prof. Aphichat Suphathamwit, MD, from the Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, represented Siriraj at the “37th Annual Congress of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) LIVES 2024″, held in Barcelona, Catalonia, the Kingdom of Spain, from October 5th – 10th, 2024. He presented an E-Poster titled “Prediction Score for Urosepsis Following Surgical Procedure in Patients with Urinary Calculi”, contributing to the global discourse on advancements in intensive care.

Prof. Nantthasorn Zinboonyahgoon, M.D., from the Siriraj Pain Clinic, Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, has been invited to join the 2026 Scientific Program Committee (SPC) for the IASP World Congress on Pain 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand. As a member of the SPC, Assoc. Prof. Zinboonyahgoon will provide continuous feedback throughout the planning cycle, assist in reviewing submitted poster abstracts, and help shape the selection process for special lectures at the Congress.

The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) World Congress on Pain is the largest global gathering of pain professionals, bringing together scientists, clinicians, and healthcare providers from diverse pain-related fields. The 2026 event will feature hundreds of international speakers and offer comprehensive sessions on the latest research and treatments for pain.

Assoc. Prof. Suwimon Tangwiwat, M.D., from the Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as both instructor and session chair at “The 41st European Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Therapy (ESRA) Annual Congress” held from September 4th – 7th, 2024, in Prague, Czechia.

Assoc. Prof. Tangwiwat led the demonstration of “Abdominal Trunk Blocks – TAP, RSB, IH/II (Supine Position)” during the Hands-On Cadaver Workshop on “Regional Anesthesia: Upper & Lower Limb Blocks, Trunk Blocks”. She also chaired the session on “Obstetric Anesthesia”.

The ESRA Annual Congress is the most influential Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine platform for clinicians, researchers, scientists, and industry representatives from all over the world, with its high scientific standard being recognized and highly rated by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education.

Siriraj International Fellowship in Clinical Pain Management is a hands-on one-year fellowship that trains an outstanding multidisciplinary clinician in pain management, treatments, and assessments for application in low-resource countries.

Asst. Prof. Suratsawadee Wangnamthip, M.D., from the Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered a poster presentation on the topic “Assessment of the Edmonton Symptom Assessment System Depression Item for Monitoring Depression Severity in Cancer Pain Participants” at the “IASP 2024 World Congress on Pain” in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, between August 5th – 9th, 2024.

IASP’s World Congress on Pain is the largest gathering of pain professionals in the world, bringing together more than 5,000 scientists, clinicians, and healthcare providers from around the world and across pain disciplines. Attendees will experience a world-class lineup of more than 400 international speakers with comprehensive sessions, bringing the latest pain research and treatment.

On August 5th – 9th, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Nantthasorn Zinboonyahgoon, M.D., from Siriraj Pain Clinic, Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the “IASP 2024 World Congress on Pain” in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, as one of the members of the ‘2024 Scientific Program Committee (SPC)’ to provide continuous feedback throughout the World Congress planning cycle, assists in the review of submitted poster abstracts, and develops the selection process for World Congress special lectures. Notably, he served as a cadaveric workshop instructor for the session “IASP’s Cadaveric Lab on Neuromodulation” and delivered a guest lecture titled “How To Get Pain Into Policy”. Additionally, he presented a poster titled “The Prevalence and Impact of Nonadherence to Analgesic Medications: A Cross-Sectional Study”.

Prof. Pichaya Waitayawinyu, M.D., from the Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a guest speaker and workshop facilitator at the “20th Asian Society of Paediatric Anaesthesiologists (ASPA) Conference & 3rd Paediatric Anaesthesia Meeting of the Malaysian Society of Paediatric Anaesthesiologists (MSPA)” in Kuching, Malaysia, from July 11th – 14th, 2024.

Assoc. Prof. Waitayawinyu delivered a special lecture on “Anesthesia for Craniosynostosis: Optimizing Outcomes” and moderated the session on “Pediatric Perioperative Life Support (PPLS)”.

ASPA 2024 featured a world-class scientific program with presentations by leading experts in pediatric anesthesia, covering a wide range of topics and hands-on workshops, including Perioperative Pediatric Life Support, TIVA, and Difficult Airway management.
