Prerequisite: Board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon

Number of Training position: 4 Month

Educational objectives: enhancing knowledge and skills in medical and surgical management of common complications

Course outlines:

  1. Basic knowledge: Special lecture, topic assignment, self study
    • Biology of the hair follicle
    • Endocrine Control of the hair follicle
    • Neuroimmunology of the hair follicle
    • Biology of the hair follicle pigmentation
    • Hair follicle vascularization & innervation
    • Molecular genetics of human hair disease
    • Normal histology of hair follicle and histopathology of hair disorders
    • Male androgenetic alopecia
    • Female pattern hair loss
    • Primary cicatricial alopecia
    • Secondary cicatricial alopecia
    • Diffuse hair loss
    • Hair loss in children
    • Alopecia areata
    • Hypertrichosis
    • Hirsutism
    • Hair care product
    • Fungal infection of the hair and scalp
    • Occupational disorders of the hair and scalp
  2. Hair transplantation: conducting theoretical and practical teaching and training according to Core Curriculum in Hair Restoration Surgery (Revised July 22, 2009)
  3. Research: Basic knowledge, critical appraisal, presentation, conducting research 1 topic

 

 Teaching Methods

  • Inpatient care: ward round, case consultation
  • Outpatient care: dermatology clinic at least 1/week
  • Dermatosurgical procedures in operating theaters 3 hours/week under supervision
