Siriraj Hospital has followed the government recommendation and public health campaign during the COVID-19 preventive guideline measures.

With the Value-Driven Care, we are pleased to launch the “SI Drive-Thru Service” to offer the elderly population, NCD patients the newer way of blood collection. With SI Drive-Thru Service, patients do not need to come into the crowded area in the hospital, instead, using drive-thru service for collecting a blood sample and be able to go home. The Si Drive-Thru Benefit spend only 4 minutes to collect specimen from each patient, patients can leave the unit within only 15 minutes. The service will minimize the risk of contacting infectious diseases, provide convenience, and improve the quality of life of the patients.

The Value-Driven Care team led by Assoc. Prof. Cherdchai Nopmaneejumruslers, Vice Director of Siriraj Hospital, Dr. Sichon Luerithiphong, Assistant to Director of Siriraj Hospital, and Dr. Theerawich Likitabhorn, Internship student from Emory Rollins School of Public Health, USA expected to see 10% reduction of the number of patients in the traditional facility within 3 months.

For now, the “SI Drive-Thru Service” project got selected into the top 3 finalists from 41 projects from around the world in the Lion’s Lair – Breaking Walls – Delivering Care in an Outbreak – CHI Innovate 2020 and also received the 2nd prize in the popular vote.

Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun Hospital (SiPH) has been receiving the renewal of Certifications of ISO/IEC 27001:2013 (for Information Security Management System), and ISO 27799:2008 (for Health Informatics – Information Security Management) from TÜV NORD Thailand for 6 consecutive years!

The ISO/IEC 27001 is the international standard, provides a set of standardized requirements for an Information Security Management System (ISMS). Using them enables organizations of any kind to manage the security of assets such as financial information, intellectual property, employee details, or information entrusted by third parties.

The ISO 27799:2008 specifies a set of detailed controls for managing health information security and provides health information security best practice guidelines. By implementing this International Standard, healthcare organizations and other custodians of health information will be able to ensure a minimum requisite level of security that is appropriate to their organization’s circumstances, and that will maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of personal health information.

Siriraj’s Athletic Facilities and Spaces is the project set up by the Health Promotion Division, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital took place at the compound of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital to promote and encourage Siriraj’s personnel and the public to realize the physiological and psychological benefits and wellness gained through exercise.

The outcome of providing athletic facilities for Siriraj personnel and the public can be seen as they are more interested in improving their fitness and health in order to have a healthy body, as well as having free time playing sports.

On August 4th, 2020, Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital presided over the International Conference, SICMPH2020 by delivering the first chapter on Healthcare Collaboration for Aged Society: The First Chapter together with Assoc. Prof. Teera Kolladarungkri, Director of the Golden Jubilee Medical Center broadcasting via Siriraj Conference​ Facebook Fanpage.

SICMPH is a dual-language (English and Thai) conference in the fields of medicine, and public health arranges annually, by adhering to the world health trend, with the public and private partners. In this year 2020, the main theme of SICMPH is on “Healthcare Collaboration of Aged Society” to commemorate the 120th birthday anniversary of Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Boromarajajonani on her contributions and dedications to Thailand’s public health and recognized as the role model of the qualified elder.

The academic activities in SICMPH2020 will emphasize on the multi-sectoral cooperation in the well-being of the elderly citizens as Thailand will fully enter into aged society in 2025, which is not more than 10 years from nowadays. The coming of aged-society will impact Thailand’s economy and development in the long run. Therefore, multi-sectorial cooperation is essential for the country to respond and address this change appropriately. SICMPH2020 this year will be the platform for all renowned speakers and distinguished participants to deliver, exchange, and share the knowledge and innovation related to healthcare for elderly citizens which will pave the way to the development of health care delivery system in Thailand in aging society effectively and sustainably.

Purpose

To provide foundation training in research to enable outstanding graduates from Mahidol University, Thailand to proceed to a Ph.D. degree at the University of Liverpool in the UK. The Ph.D. degree will be in any Science and Health & Life Sciences subjects covered by the University of Liverpool.

Eligibility

  • Thai citizenship
  • Awarded/expected 1st class degree with a GPA of 3.5 and above, from Mahidol University in related disciplines or currently a staff or faculty member at Mahidol University.
  • English proficiency test with a minimum score that fulfills the requirements of the University of Liverpool. (IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component, or TOEFL Internet Based Test 88/89 with minimum scores in components as follows: Listening and Writing –21, Reading –22, Speaking -23)

On August 3rd, 2020, Prof. Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Deputy Dean of Administration delivered an opening remark to preside the webinar teleconference the 50th APAN Meeting in MIS broadcasted via zoom application.

Minimally Invasive Surgery is now very popular in gastrointestinal tract surgery. There are many special instruments that have been developed for a specific procedure such as end staple, hemostasis device, and robotic system. The meeting aimed to present 4-5 interesting cases from different MIS centers around the world using special devices, instruments, or a new robotic system.

 

Angioedema is a common condition, affecting patients’ quality of life. Since it is a difficult-to-treat condition, the treatment is still challenging for the physicians. Prof. Kanokvalai Kulthanan has established Siriraj Urticaria Clinic at the Department of Dermatology, Siriraj Hospital since 2001 to focus on providing the best diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to the patients with urticaria and also angioedema by dedicated multidisciplinary teams. Our teams have been consistently studying on many types of research to improve knowledge and management of angioedema as shown in many published high-quality articles.

In 2020, Siriraj Urticaria Clinic, Department of Dermatology, Siriraj Hospital has been certified as the first Global Allergy and Asthma European Network (GA2LEN)/HAE international (HAEi) angioedema Centers of Reference and Excellence (ACARE) in Southeast Asia and promoted to be Siriraj Urticaria and Angioedema center. The clinic is willing to provide excellence in angioedema management, encourage and support researches in the field of angioedema as well as promote angioedema awareness through advocacy activities.
