The showcase is the joint endeavor between the U.S. Department of State and University of Southern California and U.S. Embassy Bangkok and Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University on the presentation of a document named “STUMPED” the story of a filmmaker loses his limbs, he turns to stand-up comedy as therapy and undergoes a double-arm transplant in the hope of reclaiming his independence.

We are delighted to inform you that MOST GASE TAIWAN GTI Internship: AI X Green Technology is open for application!

The internship program is held by the Center for Global Affairs and Science Engagement, Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan. It will take place from June 30 to August 26, 2020.

During the 8-week internship, the students can choose to enter one of the leading laboratories in Taiwan’s top universities, national labs, and corporations. Also, they will have the opportunities to participate in featured speeches, corporate visits, as well as cultural experiences that GASE offered.

Eligible participants of the program will receive a subsidy from MOST, Taiwan for the amount of approximately US$1,380 to cover program fees, travel insurance and accommodation. And students who are nominated by you will gain extra points in the selection.

Assoc. Prof. Ananya Pongpaibul, Chairwoman of Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, along with Assoc. On January 29th, 2020, Prof Thawatchai Akaraviput, Deputy Dean of Administration welcomed Dr. Katherine Possin, Mentors of Prince Mahidol Award Youth Scholar from University of California San Francisco, USA to deliver a talk on Cognitive Assessment and Dementia Diagnosis. The seminar held to support the looming issue of an aging society in Thailand.

 

Today (January 29th, 2020) at 09:30 am, the Prince Mahidol Award Laureates 2019 namely Professor Dr. Ralf F.W. Bartenschlager (PMA in the field of Medicine) together with Professor David Mabey (PMA in the field of Public Health) arrived at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. The PMA2019 Laureates received a warm welcome from Professor Dr. Prasit Watanapa, the Vice Chairman of Prince Mahidol Award Foundation under the Royal Patronage and the Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, along with faculty executives. As a tradition, the PMA Laureates paid the official visit to the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, the host and founder of Prince Mahidol Award (PMA), and delivered special lectures demonstrating their rewarded contributions to the world of medical sciences and public health.

Upon arrival at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital at 09:30 am, The Laureates paid respect to the statues of Prince Mahidol and Princess Somdech Phra Srinagarindra Boromarajajonani. Then, the PMA2019 Laureates paid respect in front of the portrait and the Statue of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and then the Statue of His Majesty the King Chulalongkorn. At 09:45 am, the laureates were escorted to visit the Prince Mahidol Hall of Fame at Syamindhra Building, 2nd floor to appreciate the collection of Prince Mahidol’s rare personal possessions and his royal duty and his tremendous contributions to the modern medicine in Thailand.

At 10:45 am, Professor Dr.Prasit Watanapa, the Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, delivered a welcoming remark and a brief introduction of PMA2019 Laureates in the Meet the Press at Chulabhorn Conference room, 2nd floor of Sayamindra Building. Thereafter, Professor Dr. Ralf F.W. Bartenschlager (PMA in the field of Medicine) together with Professor David Mabey (PMA in the field of Public Health) elaborated on their outstanding achievements which could be exemplary contributions to the advancement of the medical and public health services in Thailand as well as to provide great inspiration to the young generations.

At 11:45 am, the Laureates attended the Faculty Luncheon hosted by the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital in honoring their significant contribution and achievement at the Faculty Conference room, 2nd floor, Administration Building.

At 01:30 pm, the Laureates granted the special lectures demonstrating their significant contributions for the benefits of humankind at the Rachapanaddasirindhorn Auditorium, G Floor of Sri Savarindira Building. The special lectures were started with the topics in the field of Medicine, “Hepatitis C virus elimination: Achievements and Challenges” given by Professor Dr. Ralf F.W. Bartenschlager and closed with the topics in the field of Public Health “Towards the Elimination of Blinding Trachoma” given by Professor David Mabey respectively. The special lectures were witnessed by the audiences including Siriraj medical students, residents, medical staff, nurses and allied health personnel.

The Prince Mahidol Award Foundation under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej was established in commemoration of the centenary of the birth of His Royal Highness Prince Mahidol of Songkla, on January 1st, 1992. The Foundation is under the Royal Patronage, with Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn as the president. The Foundation annually confers two Prince Mahidol Awards upon the individual(s) or institution(s), which have demonstrated outstanding and exemplary contributions to the advancement of the world’s medical and public health services. Each award consists of a medal, a certificate and a sum of US $100,000.

His Majesty the King of Thailand has graciously designated Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to preside over the Ceremony of the Prince Mahidol Award 2018 at the Chakri Throne Hall, The Grand Palace on Thursday, January 30th, 2020 at 05:30 pm.

On January 24th25th, 2019, at Pullman Pattaya Hotel G, Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Prof. Dr. Prasert Auewarakul, along with Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management (SiCOREM) hosted the annual seminar with executive members from SiCOREAllergy, SiCOREDengue, SiCORECIT and SiCOREPM together with two new selected SiCOREs include Gene Therapy and Cardiovascular, participated in the seminar for discussion on the 3years term research strategic planning. The aim was to build multidisciplinary research network in the Faculty and increase research productivity of SiCOREs. On this occasion, we received honor from the two distinguished speakers Prof. Sansanee Chaiyaroj, Ph.D. and Rutjawate Taharnklaew DVM., EMBA. who participated and delivered their presentation on research management and research granting.
