On July 19th, 2022, The faculty members of the Department of Ophthalmology: Dr. Chinnapat Montrisuksirikun, Dr. Usanee Seepongphun, Asst. Prof. Sutasinee Boonsopon, Assoc. Prof. Nattaporn Tesavibu, Prof. Pinnita Tanthuvanit, Assoc. Prof. Pitipol Choopong, and Dr. Sathiya Kengpunpanich, welcomed Assoc. Clin. Prof. Paul A. Gaudio from Yale Medical School, USA, to serve as Siriraj International Scholar at the Department of Ophthalmology from July 19th – 25th, 2022. On his first day at Siriraj, Assoc. Clin. Prof. Gaudio has delivered a lecture on the topic “Useful Steps in Evaluating Ocular Inflammation” for the faculty staff of the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Lily Myint, an international fellow from Myanmar, to join the “Observed Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Program” at the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University from May 18th – June 15th, 2022. The observership program is a part of collaborative activity between Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), USA, and the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital.

On March 20th, 2022, the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, has organized an international conference, “Pediatric Glaucoma Course and Surgery Project” on the theme “Thailand-International Conference – Things You Need To Know in Childhood Glaucoma Surgery” for the residencies, fellows, and ophthalmologists from Siriraj’s Department of Ophthalmology and other institutes in Thailand and neighbor countries to learn from the world-renowned ophthalmologists to apply the “know-how” in pediatric glaucoma care later. The total number of attendees is 229 people from six countries in the South-East Asia region. This conference is supported by the Department of International Cooperation and Mahidol University’s campaign called “MFA-MU Capacity Building for Medical and Health Science Education Hub”.

Dr. Khaing Zar Yu Shein from the University of Medicine, Mandalay, Myanmar, has completed a Clinical Observership Program in Medical Retina and Uveitis at the Department of Ophthalmology between December 1, 2019 – February 28, 2020, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Adisan Trinavarat, Head of Retina Unit, Asst. Prof. Nattaporn Tesavibul, Head of Uveitis Unit, and the faculty staffs of the Department of Ophthalmology.

Assoc. Prof. Ngamkae Ruangvaravate, Chairwoman of Department of Ophthalmology along with Asst. Prof. Darin Sakiyalak welcomed Dr. Maw Maw Aung from the University of Medicine, Mandalay, Myanmar to undertake a short training course at the Department of Opthalmology from February 20th – April 30th, 2020. #irsiriraj #shorttrainingcourse
