Lecturer Dr. Navarat Kasemsuk and Lecturer Dr. Sarin Rungmanee warmly welcomed Dr. Nguen Tran Kien from Vietnam during his visit to the Siriraj Sleep Center, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, on December 24th, 2024.

Dr. Nor Hafiza Qualickuz Zanan, M.B.B.S., from Hospital Sultan Idris Shah, Kajang, Malaysia, successfully completed a 3-month Clinical Observership Training Program in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand held from September 30th to December 27th , 2024 under supervision of Assoc. Prof. Archwin Tanphaichitr, M.D., and provided comprehensive exposure to advanced practices in pediatric otolaryngology.

 

On this special ceremony, the certificate was presented by faculty members, including Prof. Kitirat Ungkanont, Head of the Pediatric Otolaryngology Unit, Assoc. Prof.Archwin Tanphaichitr, Asst. Prof. Vannipa Vathanophas, Dr. Thanakrit Wannanrong, and Dr. Sujeenun Jootakarn.

Dr. Suwimon Phunthawornwong, a second-year resident from the Department of Otolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, is currently attending the “Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Program” at the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, Japan. This program is scheduled from December 2nd – 20th, 2024.

During November 26th –29th, 2024, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, hosted the 43rd International Temporal Bone Dissection Course, organized by the Neuro-Otologic Division of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology in collaboration with the Otological Center and the Hearing International Center.

Asst. Prof. Sarun Prakairungthong, Chair of Otorhinolaryngology, welcomed 18 participants from Vietnam, Brunei Darussalam, and Thailand to the hands-on course. Advanced equipment for the training was generously provided by Medtronic International Limited and Berli Jucker Public Company Limited (BJC).

First launched in 1985 through a collaboration with IFOS/ISA and incorporated into the WHO Collaborating Center in 1988, this course has been held annually or biannually, consistently featuring two or more expert professors sharing their invaluable knowledge. This year, the session was led by Professor Emeritus Herman Jenkins (University of Colorado) and Professor Emeritus Carol Bauer (Southern Illinois University), who shared their expertise in otologic education and practice.

The Division of Rhinology and Allergy, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, in collaboration with the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, is organizing a hands-on training workshop “The 27th Siriraj International Rhinology and Allergy Course” from November 18th – 19th, 2024, at the Siriraj Medical Simulation Center (SiTEC), Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. The workshop will feature esteemed international faculty members, including Prof. Alkis Psaltis, Prof. Luo Zhang, and Prof. Chengshuo Wang.

On November 18th, 2024, Professor Apichat Asavamongkolkul, MD, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and Professor Zhang Luo, MD, PhD, President of the Beijing Tongren Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University, Beijing, People’s Republic of China, presided over the signing ceremony of a “Memorandum of Understanding on Academic and Educational Exchange”. This MOU aims to promote cooperation in education, research, and academic services, including academic and educational exchanges, for the mutual benefit of both institutions.

Beijing Tongren Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University is a leading comprehensive top-tier hospital with ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology as its national key disciplines. The hospital operates under a “one hospital, three institutes” framework, incorporating the Beijing Institute of Ophthalmology, the Beijing Institute of Otolaryngology, and the Beijing Institute of Diabetes. This model integrates medical services, education, research, prevention, and international exchange. Ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology are designated as national clinical key disciplines, while its allergy department (nasal allergies) is a national clinical key specialty.

This MOU represents a significant milestone in strengthening academic collaboration and advancing innovation between the two esteemed institutions.
