Dr. Staporn Kasemsripitak, a second-year fellow from the Pediatric Endocrinology Metabolism Unit, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand, is currently attending a “Clinical Elective in the Diabetes and Endocrinology Division” at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, United States. This program is scheduled from January 6th – 30th, 2025.

Welcome Prof. Dr. Roy Gerth van Wijk, specialized in Immunotherapy and Immunomodulation of the Allergic Response and Prof. Dr. Nicolette J.T. Arends, an expert in Pediatric Allergology, from Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands, to serve as Siriraj International Visiting Scholars at the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University from November 11th – 15th, 2024.

Associate Professor Jassada Buaboonnam, MD, from the Division of Hematology and Oncology, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was honored as a guest speaker at the “29th Congress of the Asia-Pacific Blood and Marrow Transplantation Group (APBMT)” held in Singapore from October 11th – 13th, 2024. He delivered an insightful lecture titled “Treatment of AYA ALL”, highlighting advancements in treating acute lymphoblastic leukemia in adolescents and young adults.

This congress, themed “Harnessing the Immune System”, is a premier platform for professionals across the Asia-Pacific region engaged in blood and marrow transplantation and cellular therapies. It offers opportunities to present cutting-edge research, exchange knowledge, and attend specialized educational symposia. Key activities also include collaborative study planning, updates on APBMT working groups, and engagement with industry leaders to explore innovative initiatives.

Assoc. Prof. Buaboonnam’s contribution reflects Siriraj’s commitment to advancing medical expertise and leveraging global collaborations to enhance research, clinical practices, and institutional reputation.

24 Octorber 2024: Assoc. Prof. Anirut Pattaragarn,Second Vice-Chair of Administration,
presented the Excellent Extern Awards to Miss Patthamon Utaikorn and Mr. Sutti Sannikornpap the externs who had outstanding performance during their practice at Department of Pediatrics from 29 September 2024- 26 Octorber 2024.

 

Doctor Varis Manomaivong, M.D., from the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in “The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry’s 2024 Annual Meeting” in Seattle, Washington, USA, from October 14th – 19th, 2024. He presented a research poster titled “Diagnosis Disclosure to Adolescents with ASD at Siriraj Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand”.

Dr. Manomaivong gained valuable insights into Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at the conference, including approaches for behavioral management, therapeutic interventions, and pharmacological treatments. These insights will enhance the quality of care for ASD patients at Siriraj Hospital.

The AACAP Annual Meeting is the world’s largest gathering of child and adolescent psychiatrists, bringing together professionals from over 60 countries to share knowledge and foster international collaboration.

Assoc. Prof. Jeerunda Santiprabhob, M.D., Chief of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, joined the “50th Anniversary of the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) Conference” themed “Inclusion & Innovation in Pediatric Diabetes” in Lisbon, Portugal, between October 16th – 19th, 2024. She presented an E-Poster titled “Effect of Diabetes Camp on Glycemic Control, Diet-related Behaviors, and Diabetes Knowledge Among Patients with Type 1 Diabetes Attending the Diabetes Camp”. Her participation aims to update the Siriraj diabetes care team, endocrine fellows, and residents on emerging insights in youth-onset diabetes care and practice guidelines.

The 2024 ISPAD Conference highlighted a shift from traditional hormone substitution to disease modification strategies, including immune modulation, beta cell replacement, and advanced automated insulin delivery. While groundbreaking developments in pediatric diabetes research, precision medicine, and AI bring hope, global disparities in access to insulin, technological tools, and challenges with social stigma remain critical issues in the diabetes community.

Doctor Pimchanok Kulsirichawaroj, M.D., a Clinical Educator from the Division of Neurology, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in the “2024 World Muscle Society Annual Congress” in Prague, Czechia, from October 7th to 12th, 2024. She presented a poster titled “Utilizing Next-Generation Sequencing for Pediatric-onset Neuromuscular Patients Unidentified by Traditional Diagnostic Techniques”.
