On 15th July 2020, Prof.Dr. Prasert Auewarakul, Deputy Dean for Research and SiCORE-M team (led by Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumethee, Manager) visited Medicines Regulation Division, Food and Drug Administration. Dr. Suchart Chongprasert, Director of Medicines Regulation Division welcomed the delegates from Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital and discussed about procedures of drug registration, as well as Advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) process. Our team would like to take this opportunity to express our profound gratitude to Medicines Regulation Division for having offered us a great opportunity to meet with the director and team, and thank you most sincerely for the kind reception and hospitality also useful advice given to us.

 

On 26th June 2020, Prof.Dr. Prasert Auewarakul, Deputy Dean for Research and SiCORE-M team, led by Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumethee, Manager and his team visited the Research Management and Development Division, Mahidol University. In this occasion, Prof. Wachira Kochakarn, Acting Vice President for Research and Scientific Affairs, along with Prof. Narattaphol Charoenphandhu, and staff members from Research Management and Development Division, welcomed all visitors. This meeting provides the details of overall research management at Mahidol University and consultation about research manpower and funding. From this meeting, our research management team had certainly gained numerous insights and new ideas that will assist us immensely in the development of research and grant management.

 

On 23rd June 2020, Prof.Dr. Prasert Auewarakul, Deputy Dean for Research as the chairperson, along with Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumetee, Manager of Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management Unit (SiCORE-M) and his team, hosted an initial online meeting with Prof. Sirirurg Songsivilai Secretary-General of the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). This meeting provided an opportunity to introduce SiCORE-M Unit and the Research Excellence Management System at Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. The discussion and recommendation in strategic research management during this meeting would be of a great benefit to our research management prospects and the signature research programs.

On January 24th25th, 2019, at Pullman Pattaya Hotel G, Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Prof. Dr. Prasert Auewarakul, along with Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management (SiCOREM) hosted the annual seminar with executive members from SiCOREAllergy, SiCOREDengue, SiCORECIT and SiCOREPM together with two new selected SiCOREs include Gene Therapy and Cardiovascular, participated in the seminar for discussion on the 3years term research strategic planning. The aim was to build multidisciplinary research network in the Faculty and increase research productivity of SiCOREs. On this occasion, we received honor from the two distinguished speakers Prof. Sansanee Chaiyaroj, Ph.D. and Rutjawate Taharnklaew DVM., EMBA. who participated and delivered their presentation on research management and research granting.

 

On November 15th, 2019, Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, along with executive members and Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management (SiCORE-M) welcomed Research and Innovation Advisory Committee (RIAC)namely, Chan Soo Shin, M.D., Ph.D, from Seoul National University, College of Medicine, Republic of Korea, Sharon Anderson, M.D. from Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine, USA, Gavin Screaton, FMedSci, FRCP from University of Oxford, UK, George Baillie, Ph.D. from University of Glasgow, UK, and Joshua Burns, Ph.D. from the University of Sydney, Australia,to the 2nd Research and Innovation Advisory Committee meeting for discussion on research strategic planning, research management system, and potential new SiCOREs. This was a valuable event to review the Research progress of each SiCORE program. The insight and recommendations from RIAC members were greatly appreciated and would definitely benefit research transformation at our Faculty. On this occasion, the dinner reception was held at Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital on12th floor, SiMR building,which everyone enjoyed cocktail dinner, fruitful discussion, overlooking a pretty bend of night view of Chao Pharya River.

On October 23rd, 2019 – Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, along with Prof. Dr. Prasert Auewarakul, Deputy Dean for Research, Prof. Kulkanya Chokephaibulkit, Head Division of Infectious Diseases and Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management Unit (SiCORE-M) welcome Dr. Robert James Simonds for the meeting and discussion of research collaborations during the luncheon at The Empress Chinese Restaurant, Royal Princess Hotel Larn Luang. In this occasion, Dr. Simonds has accepted our invitation to serve on the Research and Innovation Advisory Committee and he will attend the next Advisory Committee Meeting in 2020 at Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand.

Teleconference with SAB in October 2019

Prof. Dr. Prasert Auewarakul, Deputy Dean for Research as the chairperson, along with Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumetee, Manager of Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management Unit (SiCORE-M) and his team were in charge of organizing the first teleconference between SiCOREs and their Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).

On October 17th – 18th, 2019 – Dr. Somponnat Sampattavanich, Head of Siriraj Center of Research Excellence in Cancer Precision Medicine and Systems Pharmacology (SiCORE-PM&SP) and his team scheduled the teleconference with their SAB members, namely, Prof. Christopher Corless from Oregon Health and Science University and Prof. Andrew Futreal from University of Texas, MD Anderson.

 

On October 22nd – 24th, 2019 – Prof. Dr. Pa-Thai Yenchitsomanus, Head of Siriraj Center of Research Excellence in Cancer Immunotherapy (SiCORE-CIT) and his team had a teleconference with their SAB members, namely, Prof. Jacque Galipeau from University of Wisconsin Madison, Prof. Cassian Yee from University of Texas, MD Anderson and Prof. Jeff Evans from University of Glasgow.

 

We do hope these teleconference would be a good starting point of the new research management in our Faculty.  All insight and recommendations from the SAB members will certainly guide the research directions to become internationally excellence. We do realize that this will surely be an important part for the progress of our flagship research programs in Cancer.

On 30 August 2019 –  Prof. Dr. Prasert Auewarakul, Deputy Dean for Research was the chairperson in the first teleconference between SiCORE-Dengue and Scientific Advisory Board members (SAB), namely
Prof. Sir Andrew J. McMichael from University of Oxford and Prof. Xiao-Ning Xu from Imperial College London. This video conferencing was held under the coordination of Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumetee, Manager of Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management Unit (SiCORE-M) and his team along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Panisadee  Avirutnan, Head of SiCORE-Dengue. Through the strategic plan of our Faculty associated with the proposed SAB program activities, we realize this would be an important part for the progress and development of our flagship research programs in Dengue and Emerging Pathogens.

 

On 16 September 2019 – Prof. Dr. Prasert Auewarakul, Deputy Dean for Research, Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumetee, Manager of Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management Unit (SiCORE-M) and his team along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pongsakorn Tantilipikorn, Head of SiCORE Allergy scheduled the first teleconference with the Scientific Advisory Board members (SAB), namely, Prof. Rudolf Valenta from Medical University of Vienna, Prof. Giorgio Walter Canonica from Humanitas University and Prof. Stephen R. Durham from Imperial College London. The purpose of this activity was to provide SAB brief overview of the on-going projects of SiCORE-Allergy. Eventually we do hope this program would bring advantages in terms of guidance on research directions and comments on the scientific progress to the research team including a confidential critique to Dean and Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management (SiCORE-M).
