In an effort to encourage outstanding international students to undertake degree studies in Taiwan to familiarize themselves with the academic environment in Taiwan and promote communication, understanding, and friendship between Taiwan and international community, the Ministry of Education (MOE) of Republic of China formulated Taiwan Scholarship Program Directions. Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand drew up 2021 Taiwan Scholarship Program Directions for Thai Students. The brief information of the scholarship is shown as follows:

  • Application Date: February 1st – March 31st, 2021
  • Quota: 18
  • Grant: Tuition, miscellaneous expenses, and living allowance (If tuition and miscellaneous
    expenses exceed a total amount of NTD 40,000, the remaining amount must be paid to the
    university/college by the student.)
  • Grant period: four years for undergraduate programs, two years for master’s degree
    programs, and four years for doctorate programs.

Congratulations to six of Siriraj’s medical students: Mr. Theerajate Phongsuphan, Mr. Supawat Tirawanitkul, and Mr. Pavarist Rai, aka Team PepoInwZa, the winner (gold medal and 1st prize) of “Khon Kaen University’s International Challenge of Emergency Medicine and Related Basic Science 2020”, and another team who won the silver medal: Mr. Aukapatra Jaruchaiyong, Mr. Norapat Limsirorat, and Mr. Piyawat Jaikitsuwan, aka Team Si-WIFI. May this reward be an acknowledgment of their clinical knowledge on emergency medicine, great teamwork, cooperation, and communication skills.

On November 14th, 2020, the Asian Medical Students Association (AMSA) has organized a virtual academic meeting for the medical students from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and Bogomolets National Medical University (BMU), Ukraine. On this occasion, two professors from Siriraj were invited as guest lecturers for this meeting, Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, Deputy Dean for International Relations, delivered a special lecture on the topic “Preterm Labour”, and Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chantacha  Sitticharoon, Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Education, delivered a special lecture on the topic “Intermittent Fasting”. This virtual academic meeting has received positive feedback from the participants of both sides because it is a learning activity outside the classroom. It also strengthens the relationship between medical students from both countries during the COVID pandemic.

SIMPICSED stands for Siriraj International Medical Microbiology, Parasitology, and Immunology Competition Special Edition 2021 in partnership with IFMSA-Thailand held in Bangkok, Thailand. An international platform for medical students to challenge themselves, get to know others and find inspiration.

On August 27th – 28th, 2020, the committee of Siriraj Medical Students Exchange Program 2021 led by Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, Deputy Dean for International Relations, together with the Assistant Deans for International Relations: Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumetee, Prof. Woraphong Manuskiati, Asst. Prof. Warut Pongsapich, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chantacha Sitticharoon, Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Education, conducted the English Interview to select the most eligible of Siriraj 4th & 6th year medical students to undertake a clinical elective in the year 2021 (academic year 2020).

The medical students from the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, successfully developed a mobile application called “WELUNTEER”.

WELUNTEER is a medical volunteering app on the Android platform developed by a team of three freshmen medical students named “129 Sustainability” from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital and officially released the app in Google Play Store in 2019. After the app was released, they won the 1st Prize from Innovation for Campus Sustainability 2019 hosted by Mahidol University, and this year (April 2020) they also won “Excellent Student ACTIVITY AWARD” from 1st Conference of Asian Sustainable Campus Network (ASCN)” in China. Congratulations.

The NUS Enterprise Summer Programme in Entrepreneurship 2020 will be held over two 2-week period between June 22nd – July 17th, 2020, for the entrepreneurially-minded students to discover the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Singapore and the Southeast Asia region. The participated students will able to immerse themselves in Singapore’s vibrant entrepreneurship ecosystem while gaining insights into the region and beyond, and most importantly, the friendships and network formed with peers around the world will benefit them in their future entrepreneurial endeavors!

The programme charges a fee of SGD 4,815 (inclusive of complimentary accommodation on campus, some meals, and local transport). NUS is pleased to offer a scholarship of SGD 4,815 to some of the deserving students from Mahidol University (up to10 selected students for the scholarship!). Priority will be given to students in their junior and final year!

There will be two runs of the programme. Successful applicants will be informed about the exact programme dates they have been selected for at the point of offer. Applicants are advised to ensure they are available during these periods, if possible, at point of application.
