Assistant Professor Nutthawut Akaranuchat, MD, PhD, FRCST, from the Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in the prestigious “PRS KOREA 2024: The 82nd Congress of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons”. The conference, held from November 17th – 19th, 2024, in Seoul, Korea, is recognized as Asia’s largest international gathering for plastic surgery professionals.

Asst. Prof. Akaranuchat delivered an insightful oral presentation titled “Thinning of the Medial Sural Artery Perforator Flap: The Anatomical Examination of the Medial Sural Artery Perforator Branch”. This contribution underscores Siriraj Hospital’s commitment to advancing the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Participation in such a distinguished forum not only highlights the expertise of Siriraj’s faculty but also fosters opportunities for future international collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Asst. Prof. Sarut Chaisrisawadisuk, MD, FRCST, a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Consultant and Craniofacial Surgeon from the Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered a podium presentation on the topic “Bone and Suture Reformation in Different Cranial Regions after Cranial Vault Remodelling for Sagittal Craniosynostosis” at the international conference “The European Society of Craniofacial Surgery (ESCS) 2024” held between September 5th – 7th, 2024, in Helsinki, Finland.

Title: Bone and Suture Reformation in Different Cranial Regions after Cranial Vault Remodelling for Sagittal Craniosynostosis

Abstract: In cases of non-syndromic sagittal craniosynostosis, the back of the skull (occipital region) demonstrates the most substantial bone regrowth following surgery. This strong healing, especially in the lambdoid suture at the back of the head, unequivocally assures parents and healthcare providers of the procedure’s effectiveness and safety, allowing for the preservation of larger skull openings.

Asst. Prof. Sarut Chaisrisawadisuk, MD, FRCST, a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Consultant and Craniofacial Surgeon from the Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered a research poster presentation on the topic “Early Bone Reformation after Cranial Vault Remodelling for Sagittal Craniosynostosis: 3D Measurement and Reformation Pattern” at the “20th Congress of the International Society of Craniofacial Surgery (ISCFS 2023)” between September 5th – 8th, 2023, in Seattle, USA. Asst. Prof. Chaisrisawadisuk aims to utilise 3D analysis technology which is crucial in enhancing treatment outcomes for sagittal craniosynostosis, and gaining a comprehensive understanding of bone reformation patterns in significant cranial defects following synostosis surgery.

The International Society of Craniofacial Surgery (ISCFS) was founded in 1983. The organization represents multispeciality surgeons and others with an interest in and focus on craniofacial surgery.
