Siriraj and Royal Thai Navy Co-hosted the Memorial Service “In Remembrance of H.M. the Late King Bhumibol”

On October 13, 2017, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital along with the Royal Thai Navy arranged the memorial service on the marking ceremony one-year since the passing of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The merit-making ceremony took place at Siriraj Hospital where the late king received the medical treatment and passed away. A large number of Thais including Siriraj personnel wearing black dresses gathered at Siriraj Hospital to join the ceremony. A total of 199 monks were collecting alms from people from the Royal Thai Navy Convention Hall to Bovornsathanpimuk Road in front of the Administration Building, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. At 3.52 PM at Siriraj Hospital, many people observed 89 seconds of silence, to reflect the age of the beloved King Bhumibol, who passed away in his 89th year on October 13, 2016, at 3.52pm.

The ceremony started from 5.30 AM on October 13, 2017 until 00.15 AM on October 14, 2017, featured many activities e.g. Special lecture on “The King of the Land” by Dr. Sumet Tantivejkul, Thai Traditional Performance “The Story of Phra Mahachanok” by Bunditpatanasilpa Institute, Ministry of Culture, meditation, King Rama IX’s compositions performed by Royal Thai Navy Orchestra and Siriraj Chorus Club, Light & Sound Multimedia on “In Remembrance of HM the Late King Bhumibol” at Borvornsthanbimuk Park, and Dhamma talk on “Royal Duties and Projects of HM the Late King Bhumibol” by Vice Abbot of Wat Prayurawongsawat Worawihan at 100th Year Siriraj Centennial Hall
