SAB Onsite Meeting 2025
On September 1–2, 2025, the Siriraj Center of Research Excellence (SiCORE-M) hosted the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) meeting for the Siriraj Center of Research Excellence in Metabolomics and Systems Biology (SiCORE-MSB). The SAB comprised leading international experts:
1. Prof. Thomas Moritz – Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, University of Copenhagen
2. Prof. Jeremy Nicholson – Imperial College London and University of Western Australia
3. Prof. Anil Agarwal – Professor of Clinical Medicine, University of California, San Francisco
The meeting opened with welcome remarks by Prof. Sith Sathornsumetee, M.D., Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation, together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Woraphat Ratta-apha, M.D., and Assoc. Prof. Tachjaree Panchalee Boonbowornopong, M.D., from SiCORE-M, who presented an overview of SiCORE-MSB’s research landscape.
During the progress presentation, chaired by Prof. Apichat Asavamongkolkul, M.D., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, the SiCORE-MSB team shared their discoveries on Imidazole (Imp) and its implications in type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, and chronic kidney disease (CKD). The SAB commended the team’s achievements and recommended focusing on biological model validation and investigating trends in disease severity.
In conclusion, the SAB and SiCORE-MSB agreed to prioritize collaboration, technological development, and clinical translation to accelerate progress toward improved patient outcomes.
