Siriraj 4th-year Medical Students Undertake Elective Study at Oita University for the First Time

For the first time, clinical-year medical students from Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, have participated in an elective study program at Oita University.

Oita University and the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, have maintained a long-standing academic partnership, including exchange programs and collaborative research. Since 2015, Oita University has established an office in Thailand at the SiMR building.

In 2025, the university welcomed its first group of clinical-year medical students from Thailand, including seven students from leading Thai medical institutions, including Siriraj.

During the elective, students engaged in hands-on training in the Gastroenterology and Pediatrics Departments, as well as a surgical suture training session alongside Japanese students.

“The feedback is constructive, making it easy to understand what I need to improve, it is impressive” shared a Thai student. “While studying patient anatomy, I gained insights into other medical fields. In the future, I aspire to become a surgeon.”

Oita University aims to continue accepting clinical-year exchange students, further strengthening international medical education.

On this occasion, Siriraj expresses sincere gratitude to Oita University for this invaluable opportunity and looks forward to maintaining a strong partnership for years to come.
