Siriraj Faculty Abroad at ANESTHESIOLOGY 2025 in USA
Lecturer Pawit Somnuke, MD, of the Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, attended the ANESTHESIOLOGY 2025 annual meeting. The conference, organized by the American Society of Anesthesiologists, was held from October 10th – 14th, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, USA.
During the meeting, Dr. Somnuke delivered an oral presentation of his research, titled “Effect of desflurane versus propofol on postoperative neurocognitive disorders in older adults undergoing major urological surgery: a randomized trial.” The study investigates the comparative effects of two common anesthetic agents on the incidence of postoperative neurocognitive disorders (PND) in a specific patient demographic, aiming to inform clinical practice for improved patient outcomes.
The strategic outcomes anticipated from this participation include:
– Fostering international collaboration with leading experts in anesthesiology.
– Enhancing institutional capacity for research dissemination and communication at an international level.
– Integrating novel concepts from the global scientific community to initiate new, contextually relevant research projects at Siriraj Hospital.
