Siriraj Faculty Abroad at Imperial College London

On December 7th, 2020, Lecturer Dr. Weerawon Thangboonjit from Department of Pharmacology attended a virtual graduation ceremony held by Imperial College London, due to COVID-19, to celebrate her graduation of 2020. Dr. Weerawon started studying at the National Heart & Lung Institute, Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London, since November 2013, and earned the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Medicine Research in August 2019 with a thesis topic “The Possible Links between COPD and Lung Cancer: Cellular and Mitochondrial Function in Airway Epithelial Cells”.

After she came back to the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, she works as a lecturer/an instructor for postgraduate programs of her department. Besides a teaching role, as her willingness to be a part of the success of the organization, she believes that her research experiences abroad can create a new research field of mitochondrial dysfunction and disease mechanisms discovery especially diseases occurring in our aging society. Her hope is gaining more knowledge understanding will be able to improve the quality of life in clinical care in the future perspective.
