Siriraj Hospital Delegation Explores Advanced Proton Technology in Japan

From February 27th – 28th, 2024, delegation from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, led by Prof. Apichat Asavamongkolkul, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital embarked on a significant visit to Japan. The delegation included esteemed members such as Prof. Dr. Yongyut Sirivatanauksorn, Director of Siriraj Hospital; Assoc. Prof. Kanokwaroon Watananirun, Assistant Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations; Assoc. Prof.  Pittaya Dankulchai, Head of Radiation Therapy; and Mr. Wisawa Phongprapun, Medical Physicist.

Their itinerary in Japan encompassed visits to prominent institutes associated with advanced proton technology, including the BNCT Medical Center at Osaka Medical Pharmaceutical University, Takai Hospital, and the SHI Saijo Factory. The primary objective of this visit was to forge potential collaborations and explore avenues for future cooperation between these institutions.

The delegation’s engagement with these prestigious Japanese institutes signifies Siriraj Hospital’s commitment to staying at the forefront of medical advancements. By fostering international partnerships and exchanging expertise in proton therapy, Siriraj Hospital aims to enhance its capabilities in providing cutting-edge healthcare solutions for patients in Thailand and beyond.
