Published On March 15th, 2023, the Siriraj Diabetes Center, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, organized “the Pre-Camp Meeting of the 17th Siriraj Diabetes School Camp” to teach about type 1 diabetes management for the children and adults (campers) with type 1 diabetes (including their parents) before they attend “the 17th Siriraj Diabetes School Camp” between March 27th – 30th, 2023, at the Krung Thai Bank Training Center, Khao Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The Pre-Camp Meeting was presided over by Prof. Suroj Supavekin, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, along with Prof. Emer. Chanika Tuchinda; Clin. Prof. Supawadee Likitmaskul; Assoc. Prof. Jeerunda Santiprabhob; Mr. Suppawat Wadhanapatee, Senior Executive Vice President – Head of Human Resources and Corporate Governance Group, Krungthai Bank PCL; and Ms. Thipthida Sukhum, Executive Board of Director of the PB Valley Khao Yai Winery.
“The 17th Siriraj Diabetes School Camp” will teach and support the campers to adjust prandial insulin based on capillary blood glucose and carbohydrate counting. The campers will manage hypo/hyperglycemia episodes under the supervision of endocrinologists. Nurses ensured insulin injection technique, and dietitians confirmed the carbohydrate counting skill to ensure the campers had learned and managed themselves correctly.
