From December 14th – 17th, 2024, Asst. Prof. Tauangtham Anekpuritanang, MD, from the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in The 14th Pathology Conference of Southern Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, as a guest lecturer to deliver a lecture on the topic “Navigating the 2022 WHO and ICC classifications of hematolymphoid tumors.”

Between October 31st and November 1st, 2024, Asst. Prof. Ruchira Ruangchira-urai, MD, from the Department of Pathology, participated in the “76th Annual Fall Meeting of the Korean Society of Pathologists” and the “8th Annual Conference of the Asia-Australasian Pulmonary Pathology Society (AAPPS)”, held in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

At the “AAPPS Session: Interesting Cases”, Asst. Prof. Ruangchira-urai delivered a lecture on the topic “Connective tissue disease-associated nonspecific interstitial pneumonia and rare complications following lung transplantation”.

Upon her return, the knowledge and experience gained will significantly benefit Siriraj Hospital in the following ways:

1. Knowledge Sharing
– Updates from her lectures and discussions will be shared with colleagues, residents, and students during teaching sessions, enhancing pathology training and education.

2. Improved Patient Care
– Insights into rare complications will strengthen diagnostic support, contributing to better patient outcomes.

3. Network Building
– As a councilor of the AAPPS since 2019, she has fostered collaborations for knowledge exchange. These efforts will be pivotal as AAPPS co-hosts its annual meeting with the 14th Asia Pacific International Academy of Pathology Congress in Thailand in 2025, reinforcing Siriraj Hospital’s international prominence.

Additionally, Asst. Prof. Ruangchira-urai’s presence at the conference was invaluable for advancing the diagnosis and management of myositis, with a focus on driving research and improving care for Thai patients.

On April 26th, 2024 the “Siriraj International Residency & Fellow Exchange Program Committee” led by Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations; Assoc. Prof. Rattapon Thuangthong, Deputy Dean for Student Affairs;  Asst. Prof. Kanokwaroon Watananirun, Assistant Dean for International Relations; and Assoc. Prof. Warut Pongsapich, Assistant Dean of Postgraduate Education; and Lecturer Dr. Korakrit Imwattana, Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Education conducted an English interview for the “Siriraj International Residency & Fellow Exchange Program 2024 round 3” to Siriraj’s fellow/resident candidates from each department as follows:

On March 13th—15th, 2024, Asst. Prof. Jantima Tanboon, M.D., from the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was honored to participate as an invited speaker at the “5th Global Conference on Myositis (GCOM)” in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. She delivered a special lecture on “Pathological Classification of Idiopathic Inflammatory Myopathy (IIM)”.

Asst. Prof. Tanbooni’s presence at the conference was instrumental in staying abreast of advancements in myositis diagnosis and management, with a particular emphasis on advancing investigation and research for Thai patients.

Congratulations to The Laboratory of Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, for being accepted as an “Accredited Laboratory in the Field of Medical Laboratory complying with ISO 15190: 2020” by The Bureau of Laboratory Quality Standards (BLQS-DMSc), Department of Medical Sciences, Ministry of Public Health, validated from October 6th, 2021 – October 5th, 2025.

The Bureau of Laboratory Quality Standards (BLQS) is the government organization that acts as the national accreditation body for all medical and public health laboratories (or consumer protection), including laboratories engaged in clinical testing and health products testing activities. BLQS was approved to be a full member and signatory to Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC) MRA for testing on November 14th, 2002, medical testing on April 18th, 2007, and reference material producer on June 17th, 2014. Bureau of Laboratory Quality Standards became a signatory to the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) MRA on April 4th, 2003. BLQS shall grant accreditation to laboratory and reference material producers complying with the international standards ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 15189, ISO 15190, ISO 22870, and ISO 17034 as long as it meets the Thai legal and official requirements.

Assoc. Prof. Ananya Pongpaibul, Chairwoman of Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, along with Assoc. Prof. Panitta Sittinamsuwan, the Course Supervisor of the short-training program in pathology, delivered the Certificate of Completion to Dr. Zayar Hte from Myanmar on his completion of “Short-Training Program in Pathology” started from November 1st, 2019 – January 30th, 2020, under Siriraj’s Scholarship for ASEAN Doctors and Developing Countries.
