Public health research continues to be an area of intense interest at Siriraj Hospital. Recent and ongoing technological advancements are focusing on proteins, antibodies, the genome, and proteomics. Given that antibiotics resistance is a developing health threat in Thailand, the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital is strengthening its efforts in the areas of genomics and alternative treatments for infectious diseases.
One of the Faculty of Medicine’s specialists who has dedicated a significant portion of her research to this area of study is Prof. Wanpen Chaikampa of the Department of Parasitology. Prof. Wanpen has more than 10 years of experience in immunology and human genes that produce antibodies that can block the virus protein production that causes influenza.
