On September 23rd, 2019, Lecturer Dr. Susan Assanasen welcome twenty delegations consisting of doctors and nurses from Greater Mekong Subregion Health Security Project (GMS HS), Ministry of Health and Sports, Myanmar, to attend ‘Siriraj International Short Training Program in Infection Prevention Control (IPC)’ between September 23rd – 27th, 2019. The objective of the program is to strengthen and build the capacity in IPC to the healthcare staffs from 12 target hospitals of five states and regions located on the borders and economic corridors of Myanmar.
The Greater Mekong Health Security Project is a five-year regional project, which includes Cambodia, Myanmar, Lao PDR, and Vietnam, all of these countries are part of the Greater Mekong Sub-region. The impact of the project will improve the capacities in infection prevention and control (IPC) to the Greater Mekong Subregion healthcare staffs.

Welcome, Dr. Thaw Zin Htoo from Myanmar to attend Siriraj’s short training program “Clinical Observership Training Program in Hand and Micro Surgery (brachial plexus injuries)” at Division of Hand and Micro Surgery, Department of Orthopaedics Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital between September 16th – October 25th, 2019. Dr. Thaw will be under the supervision of Prof. Panupan Songcharoen, Chief of the Division of Hand and Micro Surgery.
On September 13th, 2019, Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital along with Assoc. Prof. Pravit Akarasereenont, Chairman of Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine welcomed the distinguished from World Health Organization Collaborating Centers for Traditional Medicine in South East Asia Regional Office (SEARO) and Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO) to the 1st Joint Symposium under the theme Traditional Medicines for NCDs, hosted by Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine.

On September 13th, 2019, the faculty members and students from Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine/School of Health Sciences (consisting of eight nurses, five medical technologists, one occupational therapist, and three faculty members) attended Siriraj’s international short training program on the topic “Diseases Prevention & Promotion in the Aging Society: Integrating Modern and Traditional Medicine” delivered by Prof. Prasert Assantachai, Deputy Dean and Chief of Division of Geriatric Medicine, Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.
The delegations from Nagoya University also visit Siriraj Geriatric Medicine Clinic and Siriraj Bimuksthan Museum to obtain a deeper understanding of the geriatric medicine experience and Siriraj history.
