Welcome! Prof. Christopher Tymchuk and Adjunct Asst. Prof. Traci Wells from University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), USA to visit Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine, Division of Trauma Surgery, Department of Surgery, and Division of Infectious Disease and Tropical Medicine, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital on November 4th – 5th, 2019.

On this occasion, Prof. Tymchuk and Prof. Wells also joined the discussion on students & residency exchange collaboration between Siriraj and UCLA with Siriraj International Relations team led by Prof. Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Deputy Dean for International Relations.

Siriraj Scholarship for Doctors from ASEAN and Developing Countries

Welcome Dr. Zayar Htet from the Department of Pathology, Military Institute of Nursing and Paramedical Sciences, Mingalardon, Yangon, Myanmar, to undertake the short training program under Siriraj Scholarship for Doctors from ASEAN and Developing Countries at Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University from 4 November 2019 – 31 January 2020.

On October 23rd, 2019 – Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, along with Prof. Dr. Prasert Auewarakul, Deputy Dean for Research, Prof. Kulkanya Chokephaibulkit, Head Division of Infectious Diseases and Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management Unit (SiCORE-M) welcome Dr. Robert James Simonds for the meeting and discussion of research collaborations during the luncheon at The Empress Chinese Restaurant, Royal Princess Hotel Larn Luang. In this occasion, Dr. Simonds has accepted our invitation to serve on the Research and Innovation Advisory Committee and he will attend the next Advisory Committee Meeting in 2020 at Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand.

1st Teleconference SiCORE-Cancer

Teleconference with SAB in October 2019

Prof. Dr. Prasert Auewarakul, Deputy Dean for Research as the chairperson, along with Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumetee, Manager of Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management Unit (SiCORE-M) and his team were in charge of organizing the first teleconference between SiCOREs and their Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).

The teleconference includes;

 

On October 17th – 18th, 2019 – Dr. Somponnat Sampattavanich, Head of Siriraj Center of Research Excellence in Cancer Precision Medicine and Systems Pharmacology (SiCORE-PM&SP) and his team scheduled the teleconference with their SAB members, namely, Prof. Christopher Corless from Oregon Health and Science University and Prof. Andrew Futreal from University of Texas, MD Anderson.

 

On October 22nd – 24th, 2019 – Prof. Dr. Pa-Thai Yenchitsomanus, Head of Siriraj Center of Research Excellence in Cancer Immunotherapy (SiCORE-CIT) and his team had a teleconference with their SAB members, namely, Prof. Jacque Galipeau from University of Wisconsin Madison, Prof. Cassian Yee from University of Texas, MD Anderson and Prof. Jeff Evans from University of Glasgow.

 

We do hope these teleconference would be a good starting point of the new research management in our Faculty.  All insight and recommendations from the SAB members will certainly guide the research directions to become internationally excellence. We do realize that this will surely be an important part for the progress of our flagship research programs in Cancer.

The 6th International Conference on Behavioral Addictions in Japan

Asst. Prof. Woraphat Ratta-apha from Department of Psychiatry delivered a presentation on “Training needs for Addiction Medicine in Asia, Topic: Training for Addiction Medicine: From basic to advanced training” at the 6th International Conference on Behavioral Addictions, Yokohama, Japan during June 17th – 19th, 2019.

Dean Visited UCSF for Student Exchange Collaboration

On October 29th, 2019, Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital along with Siriraj executives visited the University of California, San Francisco, USA to discuss the possible collaboration on a student exchange program between Siriraj and UCSF.
