Lecturer Pitchaya Maneeprasopchoke, MD, from the Department of Dermatology, represented Siriraj Hospital as a guest speaker at the “Aesthetic & Anti-Aging Medicine World Congress (AMWC) Japan” held in Tokyo, Japan, from November 10th – 11th, 2024. She delivered two lectures on her research topics: “Lip Refining Technique for Natural Looks” and “A New Therapeutic Approach with Skin Booster”, highlighting her innovative contributions to dermatology.

Assoc. Prof. Sqn. Ldr. Khamin Chinsakchai, M.D., from the Division of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated as a distinguished guest speaker at the “11th VERVE and LINC Australia Symposium” held in Sydney, Australia, from November 5th – 11th, 2024.

He delivered an insightful lecture titled “Endovascular versus Open Repair for Infective Native Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm: Redefining Treatment Paradigms—A 15-Year Odyssey”, sharing his extensive experience in treating complex vascular cases. The presentation highlighted innovative approaches, treatment outcomes, and lessons from over a decade of practice, contributing valuable knowledge to the field of vascular surgery.

The VERVE and LINC Australia Symposium 2024 serves as a platform for a multidisciplinary gathering of vascular specialists from across Australia, New Zealand, the Asia-Pacific region, and beyond. Its mission emphasizes advancing vascular disease prevention and cure through education, research promotion, and fostering an inclusive, collegial environment.

Ms. Lalita Matthapan, a scientist from the Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, represented Siriraj at the “8th Congress of the Asia-Pacific Society for Medical Mycology (APSMM 2024)” in Kyoto, Japan, held from November 5th – 9th, 2024. She delivered an oral presentation on the topic “Optimal Duration for Specimen Transportation Using Specimen Storing Envelopes in Superficial Fungal Infections”. Ms. Matthapan aims to bring back insights and innovative ideas to enhance departmental work processes, fostering efficiency and encouraging new approaches within the organization.

Mr. Waranyoo Prasong from the Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in the “8th Congress of the Asia-Pacific Society for Medical Mycology (APSMM2024)”, held in Kyoto, Japan, from November 5th – 9th, 2024. He delivered an oral presentation titled “The Study of Diagnostic Accuracy in Diagnosing Dermatophytosis Using Dermatophyte Test Medium”. This experience proved transformative for Mr. Prasong, offering critical insights and practical approaches that can be directly applied to diagnostic processes in Siriraj’s dermatology clinics.

Mr. Akkarapong Plengpanich, a research officer from the Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the “8th Congress of the Asia-Pacific Society for Medical Mycology (APSMM2024)” in Kyoto, Japan, held from November 5th – 9th, 2024. He presented his study titled “The In-vitro Study of Factors Affecting Fungal Nail Perforation Detected by Histologic Evaluation”.

APSMM2024 served as a vital platform for global exchange on advancements in medical mycology, fostering collaboration across institutions. Mr. Plengpanich aims to apply the insights gained to further Siriraj’s research initiatives in fungal diseases on an international scale.

Ms. Chatisa Panyawong, a scientist from the Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the “8th Congress of the Asia-Pacific Society for Medical Mycology (APSMM2024)” in Kyoto, Japan, held from November 5th – 9th, 2024. She presented an oral presentation titled “A 10-year Retrospective Study of Histopathological Features of Onychomycosis and Associated Factors with Cure”. Ms. Panyawong aims to leverage insights from this congress to further her expertise in fungal research, enhance her knowledge of pathogenic fungi, and receive valuable feedback to advance her career.

This is the first time Japan has hosted the APSMM Congress, creating a unique platform for medical mycologists in the Asia-Pacific to exchange professional insights and foster collaborations.

Ms. Dhorn Amnuayphonwiwat, Pharm.D., a pharmacist from the Outpatient Pharmaceutical Care Unit, Outpatient Pharmacy Division, Pharmacy Department, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in the “FAPA 2024 Congress” in Seoul, Republic of Korea, between October 29th – November 2nd, 2024. She presented a poster titled “Efficacy and Safety of Sodium-glucose Cotransporter-2 Inhibitors (SGLT2i) in Patient with Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction in Heart Failure Clinic Tertiary-care Hospital in Thailand by Multidisciplinary Care Team”. Pharmacist Amnuayphonwiwat aims to enhance patient care and gain insights to further develop her skills.

Under the theme “Next Generation Pharmacists in Asia: Pharmacists Integrated Role to Enhance Care and Pharmaceutical Sciences”, the FAPA 2024 Congress serves as a vital platform for Asian pharmacists to discuss rapidly evolving areas such as digital health, artificial intelligence, and precision medicine. The event aims to equip pharmacists with insights to adapt to future shifts in the pharmaceutical and healthcare landscape.

Ms. Pornchanok Monkaew, Pharm.D., Senior Professional Pharmacist from the Drug Information Service and Poison Control Center, Pharmacy Department, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in the “FAPA 2024” Congress held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from October 29th – November 2nd, 2024. She presented an e-poster titled “Poisoning in the Elderly Consulted at Siriraj Poison Control Center, Thailand”.

Under the theme “Next Generation Pharmacists in Asia”, the FAPA 2024 Congress serves as a vital platform for Asian pharmacists to discuss rapidly evolving areas such as digital health, artificial intelligence, and precision medicine. The event aims to equip pharmacists with insights to adapt to future shifts in the pharmaceutical and healthcare landscape.

Between October 31st and November 1st, 2024, Asst. Prof. Ruchira Ruangchira-urai, MD, from the Department of Pathology, participated in the “76th Annual Fall Meeting of the Korean Society of Pathologists” and the “8th Annual Conference of the Asia-Australasian Pulmonary Pathology Society (AAPPS)”, held in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

At the “AAPPS Session: Interesting Cases”, Asst. Prof. Ruangchira-urai delivered a lecture on the topic “Connective tissue disease-associated nonspecific interstitial pneumonia and rare complications following lung transplantation”.

Upon her return, the knowledge and experience gained will significantly benefit Siriraj Hospital in the following ways:

Additionally, Asst. Prof. Ruangchira-urai’s presence at the conference was invaluable for advancing the diagnosis and management of myositis, with a focus on driving research and improving care for Thai patients.

Asst. Prof. Prapaporn Thamtarana, PhD, Head of the Cellular and Molecular Biology of Diabetes Research Group at the Siriraj Center of Research Excellence for Diabetes and Obesity (SiCORE-DO), Division of Molecular Medicine, Research Department, represented Siriraj at The 10th IMCR Symposium on Endocrine and Metabolism – From Cell to Organism: Interdisciplinary Biological and Metabolic Science held in Gunma, Japan, from October 31st – November 1st, 2024.

In this event, Asst. Prof. Thamtarana delivered a special lecture on the topic “Lessons Learned from Unveiling Causative Genes of Autosomal Dominant Diabetes Using Whole Exome Sequencing.” Her participation in this prestigious symposium not only highlighted Siriraj’s research capabilities but also fostered opportunities to expand the international research network, benefiting Siriraj Hospital’s academic and clinical initiatives.
