Ms. Cholada Ratanatharathorn, Pharm.D., Senior Professional Pharmacist from the Sterile Production Unit, Department of Pharmacy, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in the “6th European Conference of Oncology Pharmacy (ECOP6)” held in Lisbon, Portugal, from October 2nd – 4th, 2024. She presented a poster titled “The Use of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring to Personalize Once-Daily Intravenous Busulfan in Thai Pediatric Patients Undergoing Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation”.

Pharmacist Ratanatharathorn aims to exchange knowledge with oncology pharmacists worldwide and integrate these insights into clinical practice at Siriraj Hospital.

ECOP6 gathers professionals from various sectors, including oncology pharmacists, hospital and community pharmacists, medical oncologists, oncology physicians, pharmacy nurses, and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry.

From September 26th – 28th, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Thammawat Parakonthun, MD (left), a lecturer from the Minimally Invasive Surgery Unit, Division of General Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and presented an oral presentation (original paper) on the topic “Health-Related Quality of Life after Gastrectomy: The Role of ERAS Protocol Compliance” at the 11th Annual Congress of the Korea International Gastric Cancer Week (KINGCA WEEK 2024) hosted by the Korean Gastric Cancer Association (KGCA) in Seoul, Korea. The KGCA is one of the world’s leading associations in the field of gastric cancer, which continuously has published SCIE-indexed journal, the Journal of Gastric Cancer.

From September 19th – 23rd, 2024, Associate Professor Summon Chomchai, MD, from the Division of Toxicology, Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in the “North American Congress of Clinical Toxicology (NACCT) Annual Meeting 2024” in Denver, Colorado, USA. During the event, Assoc. Prof. Chomchai presented his research abstract titled “Acetaminophen Aminotransferase Multiplication Product as a Predictor of Acetaminophen Concentration Above the 150-Treatment Line in the Rumack-Matthew Nomogram”.

Assoc. Prof. Chomchai’s efforts aim to position Siriraj Hospital as a globally recognized hub for research on paracetamol poisoning. This elevated reputation in clinical toxicology can foster international collaborations, secure research funding, and promote knowledge exchange—advancing patient care and academic excellence.

Asst. Prof. Jidapa Wongcharoenwatana, M.D., Lecturer from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited to attend the “6th World Congress of ASAMI-BR and ILLRS Societies” held from September 17th – 22nd, 2024, in Beijing, China.

At the conference, Asst. Prof. Wongcharoenwatana contributed in the following capacities:
– Invited speaker on the topic “Bone Grafting and Induced Membrane Technique”
– Moderator for the symposium on “Strategy for Managing Segmental Bone Defects”
– Moderator for the “Rehabilitation and Orthotics Oral Presentation”

Upon returning, Siriraj Hospital stands to benefit greatly from the advanced knowledge and innovative techniques in limb lengthening and complex deformity correction that Asst. Prof. Wongcharoenwatana will introduce. Prof. Oranee Sanmaneechai, M.D., from the Division of Neurology, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited to attended the Joint Conference of the “22nd Annual Meeting of Asian and Oceanian Myology Center (AOMC)” and the “10th Annual Meeting of Japan Muscle Society” in Nara, Japan, held between September 12th – 15th, 2024, to deliver a special lecture on the topic “Interconnection between research, clinical trial, and neuromuscular patient registries in Thailand”. Prof. Sanmaneechai’s participation aims to share a model working for policy shaping.

The Joint Conference of the 22nd Annual Meeting of Asian Oceanian Myology Center and the 10th Annual Meeting of Japan Muscle Society (AOMC-JMS 2024) served as a premier platform for knowledge exchange and innovation in neuromuscular science. The event featured keynote lectures, interactive workshops, and engaging discussions that explored the latest advancements in the field.

Asst. Prof. Natthida Owattanapanich, M.D., from the Division of Trauma Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was honored with an invitation to serve as a guest speaker at the “7th World Trauma Congress” held alongside the “83rd Annual Meeting of AAST & Clinical Congress of Acute Care Surgery” held between September 11th-14th, 2024, in Las Vegas, USA. She delivered a compelling lecture titled “Lethal Diamond: The New Concept of Trauma Resuscitation”.

Asst. Prof. Owattanapanich’s participation not only facilitated networking opportunities but also garnered recognition for Siriraj Hospital among global trauma centers.

Assistant Lecturer Nathanit Jirapongpathai, CPO, M.Sc. (Pedorthic), from the Sirindhorn School of Prosthetics and Orthotics (SSPO), participated in the Pre-conference excursion and Pre-conference workshop of the “Pedorthic Conference 2024”. During this event, she presented an oral presentation entitled “Immediate and long-term impact of customized insoles fabricated from different materials on gait parameters in participants with flat feet during running: Pilot study”. The conference was held from September 12th – 14th, 2024, at Moonee Valley Racing Club in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Throughout the conference, she gained valuable insights into various aspects of pedorthics. She learned efficient methods for assessing balance and fall risk through quick screening techniques. Additionally, she explored the application of cutting-edge technologies, materials, equipment, and research tools in the design of shoe inserts and custom footwear for patients. Furthermore, she had the opportunity to visit the facility for the program certified in custom-made footwear at RMIT University. This experience provided her with knowledge that can be applied to develop appropriate footwear solutions for patients. The conference also offered an excellent platform for exchanging information, sharing experiences, and engaging in discussions with experts in the field.

Lecturer Hathaichanok Arunsaengsin, CPO, a Prosthetics and Orthotics from Sirindhorn School of Prosthetics and Orthotics (SSPO), participated in the Pre-conference excursion and Pre-conference workshop of the “Pedorthic Conference 2024”. During this event, she presented an oral presentation entitled “A randomized controlled trial of digital foot scanning by different healthcare personnel in the CAD-CAM manufacture insoles system for people with foot-related conditions: A Pilot study”. The conference was held from September 12th to 14th, 2024, at Moonee Valley Racing Club in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Throughout the conference, she observed the diversity of materials, tools, and designs for patients in contexts different from Thailand, enabling her to adapt and apply them appropriately to the conditions in Thailand. She broadened her horizons by learning about the advancements in technology for producing the devices, as well as the assessment of outcomes to enhance the effectiveness of treatment. Moreover, she exchanged knowledge and experiences, including treatment approaches for patients with foot problems, with experts from various countries. These insights will be immensely beneficial in planning clinical services upon her return, aimed at improving the quality of life for patients.
