Welcome, Mr. Tseng Ching Ping, the IT expert from Cathay General Hospital Healthcare Information Technology, Taiwan to deliver a lecture and a panel discussion on “Patient’s Health-Centric Outpatient Chemotherapy System” for Siriraj medical personnel, chemotherapists, and nurses during July 10th – 12th, 2018 at Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. The panel discussion and lecture held under “Thailand Demonstration Project 2018” by the collaboration between Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital and Asian Productivity Organization.

On July 5th, 2018 Professor Suwannee Suraseranivongse, Deputy Dean and Director of Siriraj Medical School along with Professor Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Deputy Dean for International Relations and Assistant Professor Rattapon Thuangtong, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs welcomed distinguished delegates from NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Singapore. The delegates led by Professor Lionel Lee, Executive Vice-Dean and Professor Naomi Low-Beer, Vice-Dean (Education) were having a discussion on MBBS education programme and approach to team-based learning at Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital.

On June 19, 2018, dintinguished professors from Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU): Prof. Dr. Tetsuya Taga, Executive Senior Vice President of Global Affairs, and Professor of Department of Stem Cell Regulation, Medical Research Institute, together with Prof. Dr. Minoru Tanabe, Head of Department of Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery, delivered the special lectures and presentations about the “Joint Degree Program between TMDU and Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital” to the executive members of Department of Surgery, medical students, residency doctors and fellowship doctors at Adityadhornkitikhun Conference Hall, Syamindra Building. The event was also well attended by the administrative members of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital including Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, and Prof. Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Deputy Dean for International Relations.

On June 18th, 2018, distinguished delegates from Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU), Japan led by Professor Tetsuya Taga, Executive Senior Vice President visited Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, for a discussion on “The Joint Degree Program between TMDU and Siriraj” between June 18th – 19th, 2018, at Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. A discussion went very fruitful and well attended by administrative members of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital and Faculty Members from Department of Surgery, Department of Pathology, and Department of Pharmacology.

 

In the evening, The complimentary dinner hosted by Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital for the professors and staffs from TMDU was held at Savoey Tha Maharaj Restaurant.

On May 10th, 2018, H.E. Clinical Professor Emeritus Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, Minister of Public Health of Thailand signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dr. Teerakiat Jareonsettasin, Minister of Education Ministry of Education of Thailand, Dr. Suwanchai Wattanayingcharoenchai, Director General of Department of Disease Control, and Professor Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital on the Academic Collaborative Project “UNITE to END Tuberculosis” at the Ministry of Public Health Thailand, Nonthaburi province.

The project signifies the collaboration between public sectors to work together on stopping Tuberculosis and Multidrug-resistant TB according to the global roadmap launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) under the Sustainable Development Goals: SDGs by the United Nations (UN). The project under the National Action Plan (2017 – 2021) has been endorsed by the cabinet of Thailand to call for “multisectoral action from all sectors” to end the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and Multidrug-Resistant TB.

The MOU highlighted 6 significant actions: 1.) Establishment of TB and Multidrug-resistant TB patient’s database; 2.) Holding the workshop for TB related personnel domestical and international; 3.) Development and establishment of the Excellence Center for Tuberculosis for the countries in Mekong Region; 4.) Improvement of the TB screening system, code of conduct in the hospital; 5.) Promotion of diagnostic systems and medical care for TB’s patient in the rural areas; and 6.) A collaboration of research, technology, innovation, and preventive measure in TB and Multidrug-resistant TB’s patients.

On June 12th, 2018, Professor Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital along with Professor Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Deputy Dean for International Relations attended National Cheng Kung University Hospital (NCKUH) International Medical Education Symposium, Taiwan. In this symposium, Professor Watanapa also delivered a presentation on “International Student Exchange Program: a means to foster soft skills and 21st-century skills”.
