On July 26th, 2023, Clin. Prof. Chanean Ruansetakit, Chair of the Department of Surgery, and faculty members from the Department of Surgery: Assoc. Prof. Pranya Sakiyalak; and Asst. Prof. Krittika Teerapuncharoen welcomed distinguished guests from Wuxi Lung Transplant Center, Wuxi People’s Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, China, led by Prof. Chen Jingyu, Director of Jiangsu Lung Transplant Center, Wuxi Lung Transplant Center, on a visit and discussion at the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.

The meeting between the two institutions was fruitful as they shared valuable insights and experiences, which fostered collaboration and strengthened research networks. This visit also contributed to advancing the field of lung transplantation by enhancing our understanding of it.

Overall, the event was a resounding success in promoting cooperation and camaraderie between medical professionals and institutions, paving the way for future advancements in lung transplant research.

 

On July 27th, 2023, Ms.Somkid Khamsrimuang, Deputy Director of  Siriraj Informatics and Data Innovation Center (SiData+) along with the team from SiData+ and Information Technology Department welcomed delegates from the Ministry of Health Lao PDR on a visit and discussion at Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University about Health Information System and Data Management in Siriraj.

Welcome Prof. Kenji Inaba, the Vice-Chair of the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California (USC), USA, to serve as Siriraj International Visiting Scholar at the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, from July 21st – 27th, 2023. Prof. Inaba has brought his expertise in trauma, emergency surgery, and surgical critical care, benefiting both patients and future trauma surgeons through his extensive research, grants, and publication of over 660 scholarly articles. He is a distinguished leader in the field and a key figure in the American College of Surgeons’ STOP THE BLEED program.

Prof. Apichat Asavamongkolkul, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, actively engaged in the instruction of gross anatomy as part of the Early Clinical Exposure (ECE) Activities tailored for preclinical medical students alongside instructors from the Department of Anatomy.

Early Clinical Exposure (ECE) represents an innovative and progressive teaching-learning approach purposefully designed to foster early patient interaction for medical students, commencing as early as their inaugural year in medical school. This initiative aims to imbue future healthcare practitioners with invaluable experiences, nurturing their empathetic and clinical skills right from the onset of their medical education.
