Welcome our international medical students from international universities to undertake their elective studies at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University:

 

Yerim Song, a 5th-year medical student from Kyungpook National University, Korea, will join the Department of OBGYN from January 6th – January 17th, 2025, and the Department of Surgery from January 20th – January 31st, 2025.

Yoonhyung Choi, a 5th-year medical student from Kyungpook National University, Korea, will join the Department of Surgery from January 6th – January 17th, 2025, and the Department of ENT from January 20th – January 31st, 2025.

Juthamas Kunavongvorakul, a 5th-year medical student from Fudan University, China, will join the Department of Ophthalmology from January 6th – January 17th, 2025.

From December 6th – 8th, 2024, Prof. Niphon Chirapapaisan, MD, from the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in the “12th Asian Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (ASNOS) Congress 2024″ held in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, China. Prof. Chirapapaisan was invited as a guest speaker to present on the topic “What to Do in Functional Visual Loss.”

The ASNOS Congress is a premier platform uniting leading experts, researchers, and practitioners in neuro-ophthalmology, ocular oncology, pathology, and other subspecialties of ophthalmology, fostering knowledge exchange and advancements in the field.

From December 6th – 8th, 2024, Dr. Akarawit Eiamsamarng, a lecturer from the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in the “12th Asian Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (ASNOS) Congress 2024″ held in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, China. Dr. Akarawit was invited as a guest speaker to present on the topic, “Walsh-in-Asia Session: CPED-DOA plus.”

On November 29th – 30th, 2024, Asst. Prof. Pimkwan Jaru-Ampornpan, MD, from the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, represented Siriraj at the 13th Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (APSOPRS) Conference 2024 in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

As a guest speaker, Asst. Prof. Jaru-Ampornpan delivered a presentation titled “Thyroid Session: Dysthyroid Optic Neuropathy – Prognostic Factors on Visual Outcomes After Treatment”. Her participation not only showcased Siriraj’s contributions to advancing knowledge in ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery but also enhanced the international recognition of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, reinforcing its reputation as a leader in academic and clinical excellence.

The APSOPRS 2024 Congress, themed Seek Excellence in OcULoplastics”, brought together leading experts to explore innovations in clinical practice and surgical advancements. The event served as a platform for sharing cutting-edge research and fostering collaboration among global experts in oculoplastics.

 

On June 27th, 2024, the International Relations Division’s One Stop Service, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, celebrated our vibrant international community with a lively Coffee Party. The event served as a heartwarming opportunity to connect the graduating class of 2023 with incoming members of the class of 2024 while also bidding fond farewells to our graduating seniors, wishing them success in their future endeavors.

The afternoon was brimming with animated conversations, camaraderie, and the joy of strengthening bonds among our diverse international family. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all who attended and contributed to making this event a resounding success.

During February 22nd – 25th, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Nuttawut Rodanant, M.D., Chief of the Division of Retina, Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a guest speaker to deliver a special lecture on the topic “Subretinal and Suprachoidal Air” at “The 39th Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) 2024 Congress”, held in conjunction with the 49th PERDAMI (the Indonesian Ophthalmologists Association (IOA) Annual Meeting) at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Republic of Indonesia.

Themed “Beyond All Limits”, the APAO 2024 Congress will bring together ophthalmologists from around the world, and it is expected to feature about 800 internationally recognized speakers presenting their latest work and scientific innovations in the major ophthalmic subspecialties. An attendance figure of around 5,000 delegates.

On October 12th, 2023, the “Siriraj International Residency & Fellow Exchange Program Committee” led by Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, M.D., Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations; Assoc. Prof. Thawornchai Limjindaporn, M.D., Ph.D., Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Education; Assoc. Prof. Tripop Lertbunnaphong, M.D., Deputy Dean of Undergraduate Education; and Asst. Prof. Kanokwaroon Watananirun, M.D., Assistant Dean for International Relations; conducted an English interview for the “Siriraj International Residency & Fellow Exchange Program 2024 (1st-round pick)” to Siriraj’s fellow/resident candidates from each department as follows:

 

Department of Ophthalmology: Dr.Chavin Thetisaksakal (3rd-Year Resident), Dr.Chayanit Junsangsri, and Dr.Rawi Jongpipatchai (both 3th-Year Resident);

Department of Dermatology: Dr.Yutarat Suwanchatkul and Dr.Nuntouchaporn Amonchaisakda (both 4th-year Residents);

Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology: Dr.Pattrinee Boonyapisomparn (2nd-Year Fellow);

Department of Surgery: Dr.Techin Wasinsangworn (5th-Year Resident);

Department of Medicine: Dr.Piyaporn Chokevittaya and Dr.Irin Vichara-Anont (both 2nd-Year Fellows).

 

Furthermore, the Committee also conducted a reviewing session for the “on-line” reflection report of “Siriraj International Residency & Fellow Exchange Program 2023 (2nd-round pick)” presented by the former successful candidates as follows:

2.) 3rd-Year Resident: Dr.Lertluksana Limkul from the Department of Pediatrics, on her training experience at University of California (UCLA), USA, from March 1st – 31st, 2023.

3.) 3rd-Year Resident: Dr.Natthakarn Nakrungsri from the Department of Pediatrics, on her training experience at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital, USA, from March 1st – 31st, 2023.

4.) 3rd-Year Resident: Dr.Patpetra Svasdisant from the Department of Pediatrics, on her training experience at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), USA, from April 1st – 30th, 2023.

On September 6th – 9th 2023, Asst. Prof. Pitipol Choopong, MD., from the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the “17th International Ocular Inflammation Society (IOIS) Congress” in Berlin, Germany, as a moderator/speaker for the session “Artificial intelligence in Uveitis, Case Presentations – Uveitis Society of Thailand (UST)” and delivered a special lecture/presentation on the topic “Artificial Intelligence in Ophthalmology in Thailand.” This meeting is a unique gathering of 34 international societies, 14 Sections, free papers, and Special Interest Symposia, robust scientific sessions that cover a broad spectrum of intraocular and extraocular inflammatory and infectious disorders. Particular focus also on recent advances in ocular imaging, current knowledge of the underlying inflammatory pathogenesis of disorders, i.e., age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, comprehension of inflammation-related eye diseases, and recent scientific progress on novel therapeutic approaches, including surgical interventions in uveitis complications, i.e., medical and surgical management of inflammatory ocular surface diseases, keratopathies, glaucoma, and retinopathies.

The 17th IOIS Congress provided a unique opportunity for educational and scientific exchanges for academic and clinical researchers, healthcare professionals, and health industry representatives. We value and encourage the active participation and contribution of all professionals interested in ocular inflammation.
