Doctor Nath Adulkasem, M.D., Ph.D., a clinical teaching assistant from the Division of Pediatric Orthopaedics, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the conference and delivered an oral presentation on the topic ‘Prevalence of Osteoporosis, Sarcopenia, and High Falls Risk in Thai Older Adults: A Nationwide Community-based Survey’ at the ’11th Fragility Fracture Network (FFN) Global Congress 2023′ in Oslo, Norway, between October 3rd – 6th, 2023.

Dr. Adulkasem attended this congress to update his knowledge on Fragility Fracture Network activities, including related topics such as orthogeriatric aspects, osteoporosis, sarcopenia, and more. Moreover, he also gained valuable insights into global trends and found inspiration for his future research projects.

From October 1st-6th, 2023, a dedicated team of healthcare professionals from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University embarked on a compassionate mission to Nepal. This mission, ‘Love for Humanity’ By Siriraj Orthopaedics, was undertaken to perform life-changing joint replacement surgeries for patients in Siddhartha Hospital, Nepal.

Welcome, Dr.Bhaskar Raj Karki and Dr. Bijay Poudel, the orthopaedic surgeons from Dhulikhel Hospital, Nepal, to undertake the short training program, the “Clinical Observership Program in Orthopaedic Trauma” at the Division of Orthopaedic Trauma, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, from September 4th – 29th, 2023, under the supervision of Associate Professor Direk Tantigate of the Division of Orthopaedic Trauma.

Welcome, Dr. Hideyuki Kinoshita, Chief Physician of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Chiba Cancer Center, Japan to undertake the “Clinical Observership Program in Orthopaedic Oncology” at the Division of Orthopaedic Oncology, the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Rapin Phimolsarnti and Asst. Prof. Chandhanarat Chandhanayingyong from June 12th – 23rd, 2023.

Asst. Prof. Yuwarat Monteerarat from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered an oral research presentation on the topic “Comparing Posterior interosseous nerve strain in lateral surgical approach to radial head: A cadaveric study” at the “The XXVIII FESSH & EFSHT Meeting” between May 10th – 13th, 2023, in Rimini, Italy.

The XXVIII FESSH & EFSHT Meeting is a scientific program themed “From Basic to Controversy” by the Scientific Committee of the FESSH Congress. This Joint Congress will see surgeons and therapists join their efforts and experiences from all over the world and discuss some hot topics such as fractures and malunions of the distal radius, longitudinal instability of the forearm, flexor and extensor tendons pathologies, microsurgery, congenital and pediatric hand pathologies, failures, incorrect management of hand injuries, and a very stimulating discussion and comparison of experience between experts on wrist surgery and radiologists.

Asst. Prof. Panai Laohaprasitiporn from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered an academic research presentation on the topic “Effect of Shorter Nerve Graft and Selective Motor Branch of Recipient Nerve on Nerve Transfer Surgery for Elbow Flexion in Patients with Brachial Plexus Injury” at the “The XXVIII FESSH & EFSHT Meeting” between May 10th – 13th, 2023, in Rimini, Italy.

On March 25th, 2023, Prof. Aasis Unnanuntana from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University delivered a presentation as an invited speaker on the topic “Fragility Hip Fracture: Clinical Epidemiology and Orthogeriatric Approach” at the 1st Spring Symposium of the Korean Society of Geriatric Musculoskeletal Medicine (KSGMM) at Seoul Dragon Hotel in Korea.

On March 2nd, 2023, Prof. Apichat Asavamongkolkul, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, together with Asst. Prof. Rapin Phimolsarnti, Director of Bangkok Biomaterial Center, and Asst. Prof. Chandhanarat Chandhanayingyong from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery welcomed Prof. Shintaro Iwata from National Cancer Center, Japan, on his site visit and discussion at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. On this visitation, Prof. Iwata began his visit to the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery before moving on to Siriraj Museum, Siriraj’s Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine, and the Bangkok Biomaterial Center.
