Asst. Prof. Samiullah Sajjad, MD, from the Nangarhar University’s Faculty of Medicine, Jalalabad, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, is undertaking the Clinical Observership Program in Urology and Kidney Transplantation at the Division of Urological Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, from January 6th – February 28th, 2025, under the supervision of Assoc. Welcome, Asst. Prof. Tashbihul Azhar from AIIMS Patna (Bihar), India, to undertake the “Clinical Observership Program in Hepato-Pancreatic-Biliary” at the Hepato-Pancreatic-Biliary and Transplantation Surgery Unit, Department of Surgery, under the supervision of Asst. From December 5th – 7th, 2024, Prof. Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Director of Siriraj Medical School and Deputy Dean, and Assoc. Prof. Vitoon Chinswangwatanakul, Chief of the Division of General Surgery, represented Siriraj at the 37th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Endoscopic Surgery in Fukuoka, Japan.

Prof. Apichat Asavamongkolkul, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, are pleased to welcome Prof. Daniel Owen Herzig from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), USA, and Prof. Peter Schneider from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), USA, as Siriraj International Visiting Scholars at the Department of Surgery.

Prof. Herzig, an expert in Colon and Rectal Surgery, and Prof. Schneider, a specialist in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, will be visiting from November 24th – 29th, 2024. Their expertise will foster knowledge exchange and innovation in surgical practices, benefiting both medical professionals and patients alike.

Assoc. Prof. Sqn. Ldr. Khamin Chinsakchai, M.D., from the Division of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, served as a distinguished guest speaker at the “VEITHsymposium” held in New York City, NY, USA, from November 19th – 23rd, 2024. He delivered a lecture titled “Turning the Tide on Ruptured Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Mortality: A 13-Year Prospective Cohort Study of Multidisciplinary Protocols.” His presentation shared insights from over a decade of experience in managing complex vascular cases, focusing on innovative approaches, treatment outcomes, and key lessons from multidisciplinary care.

The VEITHsymposium is a premier event for vascular surgeons and specialists, offering a dynamic platform to explore the latest advancements in vascular disease treatment. This 5-day symposium features rapid-fire presentations by world-renowned experts, addressing cutting-edge techniques, evolving diagnostic and management concepts, controversies, and innovations shaping the field.

Assistant Professor Nutthawut Akaranuchat, MD, PhD, FRCST, from the Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in the prestigious “PRS KOREA 2024: The 82nd Congress of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons”. The conference, held from November 17th – 19th, 2024, in Seoul, Korea, is recognized as Asia’s largest international gathering for plastic surgery professionals.

Asst. Prof. Akaranuchat delivered an insightful oral presentation titled “Thinning of the Medial Sural Artery Perforator Flap: The Anatomical Examination of the Medial Sural Artery Perforator Branch”. This contribution underscores Siriraj Hospital’s commitment to advancing the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery.

He delivered an insightful lecture titled “Endovascular versus Open Repair for Infective Native Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm: Redefining Treatment Paradigms—A 15-Year Odyssey”, sharing his extensive experience in treating complex vascular cases. The presentation highlighted innovative approaches, treatment outcomes, and lessons from over a decade of practice, contributing valuable knowledge to the field of vascular surgery.

The VERVE and LINC Australia Symposium 2024 serves as a platform for a multidisciplinary gathering of vascular specialists from across Australia, New Zealand, the Asia-Pacific region, and beyond. Welcome Sereyrith Hor Heng, a 4th-year medical student from International University, Cambodia, to undertake elective study at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.
