Building bridges in immunology! We were honored to welcome Professor Hiroyuki Oshiumi, Professor Seiji Okada, Mr. Kenji Kakuta, and others from Kumamoto University, Japan, during their visit to the Department of Immunology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. We look forward to future collaborations and advancements in the field.

Assistant Professor Peti Thuwajit, MD, Program Director of the Doctorate Program in Immunology at the Department of Immunology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, contributed as a guest speaker at the International Conference of the Genetic Society of Korea (ICGSK) 2024 in Busan, Republic of Korea, between October 10th – 14th, 2024.

Asst. Prof. Thuwajit delivered a talk titled “Diagnostic Power of DNA Methylation Markers Suggestive of Cholangiocarcinoma in ERCP-based Brush Cytology” and presented a poster titled “Cell-surface Bound DNA on Red Blood Cell Membrane as a Source for Detecting Circulating Cancer DNA.” His participation highlighted Siriraj’s cutting-edge research and facilitated international collaboration with other leading institutions.

ICGSK 2024 marked the 10th anniversary of the Genetics Society of Korea’s international academic conference. Held under the theme “Decoding Genomic Mysteries: Journey into Functional Genomics”, the event focused on exploring functional genomics beyond DNA base sequences to understand how genetic codes influence biological processes. The conference featured engaging discussions on unraveling genetic mysteries and advancing genomic science.

Welcome, Walter Samuel Hunter, 3rd-year student from University of Agriculture in Kraków Poland to undertake an elective study at Department of Immunology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University under the supervision of Dr. Punn Augsornworawat, from September 16th-27th, 2024.

Ms. Veerachat Muangsombut, Ph.D., a Postdoctoral Fellow from the Department of Immunology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the “Viruses of Microbes 2024” conference in Cairns, Australia, from 15th – 19th, 2024. She presented an abstract on “Effective Control of the Foodborne Pathogen Listeria Monocytogenes through the Synergistic Action of a Bacteriophage and a Pyrogallol-derived Natural Antimicrobial.”
