Prince Mahidol Award Laureates 2025 Deliver Honorary Lectures at Siriraj Hospital
On January 27th, 2026, Professor Apichat Asavamongkolkul, M.D., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, in his capacity as Vice Chairman of the Prince Mahidol Award Foundation Under Royal Patronage, along with faculty executives, welcomed the 2025 Prince Mahidol Award Laureates during their visit to the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital.
The distinguished laureates delivered honorary lectures from 1:30 to 3:00 PM at the Rachapanaddasirindhorn Auditorium, attended by Siriraj’s faculty members, medical professionals, students, and other interested participants.
Dr. Terry Dean King, M.D. from the United States received the 2025 Prince Mahidol Award in the field of Medicine. Dr. King is recognized as a distinguished physician and scientist specializing in cardiology, whose outstanding achievements in pioneering medical innovations have advanced the quality of life for patients with congenital heart diseases worldwide. His development of minimally invasive treatment technologies has benefited the health and well-being of hundreds of millions of people globally.
Professor Walter C. Willett, M.D., M.P.H., Dr.P.H. also from the United States, was honored in the field of Public Health. Professor Willett is acclaimed as a pioneer in modern nutritional epidemiology who has directed numerous influential studies on diet, lifestyle, and chronic disease. His groundbreaking research has transformed global understanding of nutrition and driven major public health policy changes worldwide.
The visit to Siriraj Hospital holds special significance as the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital is the originating institution of the Prince Mahidol Award, established by royal permission of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great as a memorial to Prince Mahidol of Songkla. The award continues to recognize individuals or organizations whose outstanding work benefits humanity in medicine and public health, with each annual award comprising a medal, certificate, and prize money of 100,000 US dollars.
