Siriraj and NCGG Forge Ahead in Geriatric Medicine Collaboration to Elevate Elderly Care Across Asia
On June 2, 2026, the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, led by Professor Apichat Asavamongkolkul, MD, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, presided over a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on academic collaboration in Geriatric Medicine with Professor Hidenori Arai, MD, PhD, President of the National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology (NCGG), Japan. The signing ceremony took place at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital.
The ceremony was attended and witnessed by the Faculty’s executive board, department chairpersons, and the Siriraj Academic Center of Geriatric Medicine (SACGM) team. The welcoming delegation included Professor Thawatchai Akaraviputh, MD, Deputy Dean and Director of Siriraj Medical School, alongside Professor Weerasak Muangpaisan, MD, Chairman of the Siriraj Academic Center of Geriatric Medicine (SACGM).
This agreement marks the third renewal of the MoU between Siriraj and NCGG, reflecting a long-standing and robust partnership dedicated to the continuous advancement of academics, research, and clinical development in geriatric care over recent years.
The collaboration not only reaffirms a shared commitment to developing medical knowledge and innovations for the elderly community but also represents a significant milestone in driving Asian-level cooperation. This initiative aims to accommodate the transition into an aging society comprehensively and sustainably, while paving the way for further multi-dimensional collaborative efforts in the future.
