Tampa, Florida, USA – The Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, demonstrated its commitment to surgical innovation at the prestigious 2026 SAGES (Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons) Annual Meeting held in Tampa, Florida, from March 25 – 28, 2026.

Two distinguished surgeons from the Minimally Invasive Surgery Unit, Division of General Surgery, Department of Surgery presented groundbreaking surgical techniques through video presentations at this internationally acclaimed conference.

Dr. Wiramon Hirunpattarasilp, MD, FRCST presented “Laparoscopic Splenopexy with Preperitoneal Pocket Technique For Symptomatic Wandering Spleen”. This presentation addressed an innovative minimally invasive approach to treat wandering spleen, a rare condition where the spleen is displaced from its normal anatomical position in the left upper quadrant to an abnormal location within the pelvic cavity.

Dr. Nicha Srisuworanan, MD, FRCST delivered “Robotic Removal of Aortocaval Tumor ‘The Bottom-up Approach’”  This presentation showcased advanced robotic surgical techniques for complex tumor removal procedures in the challenging aortocaval region.

The acceptance and presentation of these videos at SAGES 2026 highlights Siriraj Hospital’s position as a leader in minimally invasive and robotic surgical innovation.
