The IASP Visits Siriraj
November 10th, 2025, Professor Apichat Asavamongkolkul, MD, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, along with Associate Professor Prapat Wanitpongpan, MD, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations; Associate Professor Orawan Pongraweewan, MD, Chairperson of Department of Anesthesiology; Professor Nantthasorn Zinboonyahgoon, MD, Director of Siriraj Pain Management Clinical Training Center; and faculty members from the Department of Anesthesiology and Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine, welcomed Professor Andrew Rice, MBBS, MD, FRCP, FRCA, FFPMRCA, FFPMCAI (Hon), FRSB, President of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP).
The meeting focused on preparations for the “53rd World Congress on Pain“, scheduled to be held in Thailand in October 2026. The Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital will co-host this prestigious event with IASP to disseminate academic knowledge to physicians across various specialties and healthcare professionals from Thailand and internationally who provide pain management services to patients.
This congress will also provide researchers with opportunities to exchange knowledge and experiences, while inspiring medical students from various institutions. The event aims to promote advancements in pain management science, which has developed significantly in recent years, and encourage further innovation in the field.
These developments will broadly benefit patients with various conditions, enabling them to live more comfortably.
