Welcome Sophie Craig Troupe, a medical student from The University of Kansas School of Medicine, USA, will join the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine from February 4th – 14th, 2025, and the Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine (CATTM) from February 17th – February 28th, 2025.

Dr. Nawapat Kluabwang, a third-year resident from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, is currently attending a “Clinical Elective in Rehabilitation Medicine” at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia. This program is scheduled from January 6th – 30th, 2025.

Dr. Peerana Narkdaeng, MD, 3rd Year Resident from Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is attending the Clinical Elective at Fujita Health University Hospital in the division of Rehabilitation Medicine during November, 1st – 28th, 2024.

Prof. Teerada Ploypetch, M.D., from June 10th – 28th, 2024.

From June 1st – 6th, 2024, Asst. Prof. Ratcharin Kongkasuwan, M.D., from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, participated in “The 18th World Congress of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM)” in Sydney, Australia, to present a poster presentation on the topic, “The effectiveness of inspiratory muscle training using the inspiratory muscle trainer on respiratory muscle strength in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a randomized controlled trial”.

Asst. Prof. Kongkasuwan’s participation will benefit Siriraj as follows:
– Enhance techniques and services for ultrasound-guided botulinum toxin and phenol injections for spasticity management
– Improve pediatric pain management
– Provide teaching and knowledge-sharing opportunities for residents, young staff, and Thai physiatrists
– Foster connections with international experts for future research and academic collaborations

The ISPRM World Congress is a premier forum for presenting international research, discovery, and innovation in Rehabilitation Medicine. The 2024 conference focuses on the three “T’s”: Trauma (including motor vehicle accidents, domestic violence, and the aftermath of war and natural disasters), Technology (from personal devices to robotics), and Timing (exploring prehabilitation, in-reach services, and the optimal duration of rehabilitation).

From May 28th – June 1st, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Teerada Ploypetch, M.D., Director of the Division of Pediatric Rehabilitation, Department of Rehabilitation, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and presented a research poster presentation “Innovative ultrasound guided tibial motor branch block for treatment of ankle spasticity comparing with the conventional electrical stimulation guided phenol tibial neurolysis in children with cerebral palsy, a double-blinded randomized controlled trial” at the “36th European Academy of Childhood-onset Disability (EACD) Annual Meeting 2024″ in Bruges, Belgium.

The European Academy of Childhood-onset Disability (EACD) is an international not-for-profit association founded in 1989. It is an association for anyone with a clinical and/or scientific interest in childhood-onset disabilities in Europe and beyond. EACD’s mission is to promote research and education for the benefit of people with childhood-onset disabilities throughout Europe and beyond.
