The therapeutic use of limbal or oral epithelial cultures for the regeneration of corneal epithelium in patients with limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD).
Research Interest
Brief fields of interest
- Limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD) is one of the most challenging eye conditions. Patient with this condition shows a reduced ability to repopulate the corneal and potential vision loss.
- Our laboratory activities continue to improve treatment procedures: simple limbal epithelial transplantation (SLET) and cultivated oral mucosal epithelial transplantation (COMET).
- We collaborate with multidisciplinary experts in fields such as biomedical engineering and clinical ophthalmology.
- Our research projects aim to set up national protocol and guidelines for delivering cultivated corneal epithelium and the treatment of LSCD that are both practical and highly effective for the whole country.
