On February 14th, 2023, the Faculty Members of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University: Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations; Assoc. Prof. Dr.Thawornchai Limjindaporn, Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Education; Assoc. Prof. Ratthaphon Tuangthong, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Uraiwan Panich, Chairwoman of the Department of Pharmacology; and Asst. Prof. Chainarong Phalanusitthepha from the Department of Surgery, welcomed the distinguished guests from Showa University led by Prof. Koji Nobe, Dean of the Graduate School, School of Pharmacy; Prof. Miki Izumi, Chairwoman of International Exchange Committee, School of Medicine; Prof. Hiroyuki Itabe, Chairman of International Exchange Committee, School of Pharmacy; Prof. Michael Myers of the International Exchange Center; and Prof. Miyuki Hashimoto, Professor and Vice Director of the International Exchange Center, on the site visit at Siriraj Diabetes Center of Excellence, and the Surgery Internal Ward, Department of Surgery, and also a discussion on further collaboration about collaboration in student exchange between Siriraj and Showa.

Welcome, Dr. Joanna Lea Odenthal, a resident from the Oregon Health &Science University, USA, to undertaking an elective study at the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Wanatpreeya Phongsamart starting from February 13th – March 3rd, 2023.

Siriraj Attended the “3rd International Symposium & Joint ARISE-AFRICA Symposium” in Japan

On February 6th – 8th, 2023, Prof.Apichat Asavamongkolkul, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, along with Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumetee, Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation, were invited to attend the “3rd International Symposium on Clinical Research/Trials & Joint ARISE-AFRICA Symposium: Addressing the Shortage of Physician-Scientists and Clinical Trial Professionals” in Tokyo, Japan.
On this occasion, Prof. Apichat Asavamongkolkul delivered a special lecture on the topic “Raising Clinical Research Awareness As Early As Possible at the Medical School. Is It Necessary? Is It the Time? Mahidol University’s Efforts, Thoughts, and Opinion.” And Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumetee delivered on the topic “Shortage of Clinical Research Professionals.”
In 2024, the 2nd ARISE (Academic Research Organization Alliance for ASEAN & East Asia) annual meeting will be held at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital.

Siriraj Being Accredited on Acute Geriatric Hip Fracture by Hospital and Health Service

Congratulations to Siriraj Hospital for their achievement after being accredited and receiving a “Disease-Specific Certificate (DSC) on Acute Geriatric Hip Fracture” by the Hospital and Health Service (HA) from February 3rd, 2023, onwards!

Hospital and Health Service (HA) has been accredited by an international organization, The International Society for Quality in Health Care External Evaluation Association (IEEA), which is a certification for hospitals and health services in Thailand. The first time was in February 2010 and has been certified for the 3rd time in February 2018 – February 2022 and is in the process of requesting for certification for the 4th time (will write content that will update and amend when announced. Certified Standard Volume 5 from IEEE).

Keio University School of Medicine Japan Visits Siriraj

On February 2nd, 2023, Prof. Apichat Asavamongkolkul, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, together with the administrative members of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, welcomed the distinguished delegates from the Keio University School of Medicine, Japan, led by Prof. Takanori Kanai, Dean and Professor of the Department of Internal Medicine (Gastroenterology), Prof. Toshiaki Monkawa, Vice Dean (Education) and Professor of the Medical Education Center, Prof. Haruhiko Siomi, Vice Dean (Research) and Professor of the Department of Molecular Biology, and Mr. Hiroki Yamamoto of the International Office, on the site visit at Siriraj Center of Research Excellence for Systems Pharmacology, Siriraj Liver Transplant Center, and Siriraj Stroke Center, respectively. On this occasion, the two parties also discussed further collaboration in student exchange, research exchange, and symposiums between Keio University School of Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.
