On February 5th, 2021, Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University received the award on the category of the Thailand Quality Class Plus: Operation at the Press Conference of Thailand Quality Award 2020 held at Ballroom 2, Intercontinental Hotel, Bangkok.

The Ernst Mach Grant programme is named after the famous Austrian physicist and philosopher Ernst Mach (1838-1916). The grant programme is financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science, and Research (BMBWF). Students and young researchers from foreign universities are invited to apply for this grant to come to Austria for research or a study stay.

1. Ernst Mach Grant – worldwide

The Ernst Mach Grant worldwide is targeted at young researchers from all disciplines and countries (except Austria) who wish to pursue a research project in Austria.

Target group: young researchers from all disciplines and countries (except Austria)

Duration: 1 to 9 months

Age limit: 35 years

Closing date for applications: online application is available from October to February 1st of the following year

 

2. Ernst Mach Grant for studying at an Austrian University of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschule)

This programme is aimed at students from non-European universities who wish to spend a semester or two at an Austrian University of Applied Sciences (‘Fachhochschule’).

Target group: undergraduates and graduates from non-European universities

Target institution: all Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences (‘Fachhochschulen’, see www.fachhochschulen.ac.at)

Duration: 4 to 10 months

Age limit: 35 years

Closing date for applications: online application is available from October to March 1st of the following year

 

3. Ernst Mach Follow-Up Grant (non-European developing countries)

The Ernst Mach Follow-Up Grant is aimed at postdocs from non-European developing countries who are former OeAD scholarship holders. The grant is intended to support the applicant’s scientific carrier and to further and deepen the cooperation with Austrian higher education institutions and universities.

Target group: Post-doctoral researchers and lecturers from non-European developing countries who research and/or teach at higher education institutions or universities and have already received a grant administered by the OeAD-GmbH in the past. At the beginning of the grant period, at least 5 years must have passed since the last funded research visit to Austria.

Duration: 1 to 3 months

Age limit: 50 years

Closing date for applications: Online applications are open from November to February 1st of the following year and from June to November 1st.

 

4. The Ernst Mach Grant ASEA-UNINET

is open to graduates, postgraduates, and postdocs from Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, or Vietnam in all fields of study who want to study or do a research project in Austria.

Target group: graduates of artistic fields for a study visit in the field of music; postgraduates doing a doctoral/Ph.D. programme in Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, or Vietnam; postgraduates who want to do a doctoral/Ph.D. programme in Austria and fulfill the requirements for admission; postdocs who are involved in teaching and research at a university in Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, or Vietnam.

Age limit: 35 years for graduates and postgraduates, 45 years for postdocs (at the time of the application)

Duration: graduates, post docs: 1 to 9 months; postgraduates: max. 36 months

5. Richard Plaschka Grant (International)

The Plaschka PostDoc scholarship programme is aimed at researchers in the field of Austrian history. The duration of the scholarship is four to twelve months; an extension to up to 18 months is possible. Persons who consumed at least 12 scholarship months can apply for the follow-up support programme.

Target group: postdocs, researchers

Countries of origin: all

Duration: 4 to 12 months (extension to 18 months is possible in certain cases)

Closing date for applications: March 1st, September 15th

Funding organisation: OeAD-GmbH on behalf and financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science, and Research.

In an effort to encourage outstanding international students to undertake degree studies in Taiwan to familiarize themselves with the academic environment in Taiwan and promote communication, understanding, and friendship between Taiwan and international community, the Ministry of Education (MOE) of Republic of China formulated Taiwan Scholarship Program Directions. Thailand joins 23 nations in a global awareness campaign by illuminating Navamindrabopitr 84th Anniversary Building, Siriraj Hospital, to show support for World NTD Day 2021.

Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University in partnership with the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Carter Center, The END Fund, Uniting to Combat NTDs, DNDi, and more than 300 government, health, community, and business leaders, will use this occasion to launch a meaningful series of activities in support of eliminating NTDs from the planet.

On January 10th, 2021, Asst.Prof. Nantthasorn Zinboonyahgoon, Chief of Siriraj Pain Management Clinical Training Center, Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital delivered a virtual talk at the First International Forum on Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine on Pain and Related Dysfunctions.
The International Forum was sponsored by Shanghai Yueyang Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine in order to create a platform that brings together well-known experts in the field of pain medicine in China and abroad to address challenges of pain diagnosis and treatment and to share information of academic advancement.
