We are delighted to announce that we’ve signed the MOU with Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical company to work together on the establishment of the so called “Center of Excellence in Minimal Invasive Surgery” !!!

The MOU has been signed on March 7, 2018 by Professor Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital and Mr. Vaibhav Saran, Managing Director of Johnson & Johnson, Thailand & Emerging territories. The event was well witnessed by Clinical Professor Pansak Laksanaboonsong, Chairman of Department of Surgery and his MIS team, the spearhead of the COE along with Mr. Patrick Smallcombe, President of Johnson & Johnson Southeast Asia.

On March 2, 2018, Professor Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Deputy Dean for International Relations, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and Associate Professor Cherdchai Nopmaneejumruslers, Vice Director of Siriraj Hospital, visited Seoul National University College of Medicine (SNUCM) to join a discussion on topic “Medical Education and Health Care System in Korea” which is one of the activity of the course in “Good Governance for Medical Executives” hosted by the Medical Council of Thailand.

On March 3, 2018, Professor Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital along with Siriraj executive members welcomed His Excellency Lyonpo Tandin Wangchuk, Minister of Health, and distinguished delegates from Ministry of Health, Royal Government of Bhutan to visit Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital and discuss with the Dean regarding on the collaboration between Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital and Ministry of Health in postgraduate education. On this occasion, Professor Woraphong Manuskiatti, Assistant Dean of Postgraduate Education also delivered the overview of postgraduate education at Siriraj Hospital to the delegates for sharing and exchanging ideas.

During February 19 – 21, 2018, Professor Dr. Prasert Auewarakul, Deputy Dean of Research along with Dr. Vitoon Chinswangwatanakul, Assistant Dean of Research welcomed Prof. Jay Nelson; Director of the Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute, Oregon Health Sciences University, Assoc.Professor Dr. Marcel Curlin, Specialist in adult infectious diseases, OHSU, and Professor Michael Gale Jr., Director of the University of Washington Center for Innate Immunity and Immune Disease, USA to visit Siriraj Research Department and facilities in Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital.

On this occasion, three reputed professors from OHSU and UOW also delivered the special lectures, namely, “Cytomegalovirus, Friend or Foe: A Vector for HIV and a Pathogen in Bone Marrow Transplant Patients” by Professor Jay Nelson, “Innate Immune Control of Flavivirus Infection” by Professor Michael Gale Junior, and ““Animal Models of Zika Virus Infection, Pathogenesis & Effects During Pregnancy” delivered by Associate Professor Marcel Curlin” at Siriraj Medical Research Center.

On February 21, 2018, Assistant Professor Nantthasorn Zinboonyahgoon, Head of Siriraj Pain Clinic along with Lecturer Dr. Pramote Euasobhon welcomed Professor Roderick Finlayson, the Specialist in Interventional Pain Management from Montreal General Hospital, McGill University, Canada to deliver the special lecture and demonstrate a hands-on workshop at Siriraj Pain Clinic and Operation Room, 4th floor, Syamindra Building.

On February 21, 2018, Professor Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Professor Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Deputy Dean for International Relations along with Siriraj Executive members welcomed Professor Kao Shou-Yen, Vice-superintendent & Head of Department of Stomatology, and distinguished delegates from Taipei Veterans General Hospital to the signing ceremony between Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital and Taipei Veterans General Hospital. The MOU highlighted the collaboration in in the fields of education, research and academic services. On this occasion, two institutes also had the discussion on the protocol of TRODAT scan in Parkinson disease.

On February 20, 2018, Professor Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Deputy Dean for International Relations along with Associate Professor Dr. Surapol Issaragrisil from Division of Hematology, Department of Medicine welcomed the world renowned scientists Professor Dr. Davor Solter, pioneer in epigenetics and reprogramming, and Professor Dr. Barbara Knowles from Institute of Medical Biology, Singapore, as visiting scholars to coach the medical personnel and researchers at the SiSCR, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital.

On February 19, 2018, Professor Apichat Asavamongkolkul, Deputy Dean of Administration welcomed Dr. Toru Akiyama and delegates from Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Saitama Medical Center, Jichi Medical University to visit Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital.
