On February 13th, 2024, Prof. Apichat Asavamongkolkul, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumetee, Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation, Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations, along the Siriraj members welcome Prof. Dr. Stefan Pfister, Director of Hopp Children’s Cancer Center Heidelberg, University Hospital Heidelberg, Germany, and distinguished guests from Hopp Children’s Cancer Center Heidelberg (KiTZ) on visit and discussion to foster research collaboration projects. On this occasion, the guests also visited the Grand Palace and Loha Prasat to immerse in Thai history and culture.

Welcome, Dr.Kornpong Vantanasiri, a fellow from Mayo Clinic, USA, on undertaking an elective study at the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, from February 12th – March 7th, 2024.
On February 6th – 9th, 2024, Asst. Prof. Ratcharin Kongkasuwan, M.D., from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended ‘The 17th European Association for Haemophilia and Allied Disorders Congress (EAHAD 2024)’ in Frankfurt, Germany, and delivered a research poster presentation on the topic “Abstract Presentation: Validity and reliability of Thai version of the Paediatric Haemophilia Activities List (PedHAL).” Asst. Prof. Kongkasuwan aimed to contribute to the enhancement of hemophilia clinic services and resident education, while also establishing connections for future research endeavors.
The European Association for Haemophilia and Allied Disorders (EAHAD) is a multi-disciplinary association of healthcare professionals who provide care for individuals with haemophilia and other bleeding disorders. Its members include haematologists, internists, pediatricians, nurses, physiotherapists, laboratory scientists and researchers from across Europe. Since its establishment in 2007, EAHAD has worked to improve the situation of people living with haemophilia and other bleeding disorders.

On February 8th, 2024, Prof. Apichat Asavamongkolkul, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, together with Siriraj’s administrative members: Prof. Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Deputy Dean and Director of Siriraj Medical School; Assoc. Prof. Tripop Lertbunnaphong, Deputy Dean of Undergraduate Education; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chantacha Sitticharoon, Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Education; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anchalee Tungtrongchitr. extended a warm welcome to Prof. Celine Marmion, Deputy Dean for Student Engagement, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Republic of Ireland. This meeting focused on crucial discussions regarding the Biodesign Curriculum and strategies for advancing medical student activities, aiming to foster collaboration between the two esteemed institutions in the future.

We’re pleased to welcome Mr. Kazuho Fukuda, Mr. Tatsuro Shiina, and Mr. Shunta Maruo, (from the left) 5th-year students from Kobe University, Japan, who will be undertaking an elective study at the Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine (CATTM) from February 5th to 16th, 2024. Following this, Mr. Fukuda and Mr. Maruo will continue their studies in the Department of Pediatrics, while Mr. Shiina will shift to the Department of Surgery from February 19th to March 1st, 2024.
Additionally, a warm welcome to Ms. Kennedy Marie Poro (the third from the right) and Ms. Flavia McBride, (from the right) 4th-year students from the University of Kansas Medical Center, USA, along with Ms. Isabel Fan (second from the right), a 4th-year student from Columbia University, USA. They will also be joining the elective study program at CATTM from February 5th to 16th, 2024. Ms. Poro will be participating in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Ms. McBride will join the program at the Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Medicine, from February 19th to March 1st, 2024, and Ms. Fan will be studying at the Department of Anesthesiology from February 19th to 28th, 2024.

Redenti, a 4th-year student from Columbia University, USA to undertake an elective study at Division of Hematology, Department of Medicine from February 5th – 16th, 2024, and Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine from February 19th – 28th, 2024.

Prof. Dr. Somponnat Sampattavanich, Director of SiCORE in Cancer Precision Medicine and Systems Pharmacology (SiCORE-PM&SP); and teams from the Department of Dermatology and Pharmacology extended a warm welcome to Prof. Dr. Srikala Raghavan from ASTAR Skin Research Labs (ASRL) in Singapore to serve as Siriraj Visiting Scholars at Department of Pharmacology from February 5th to February 9th, 2024, provided an excellent opportunity for collaboration and knowledge exchange in the field of pharmacology. Prof. Raghavan specializes in epithelial homeostasis and immune regulation at barrier surfaces, bringing valuable expertise to the department.
