DiscoverNUS and the NUS ASEAN Master’s Scholarship Programme bring top students from partner universities across Southeast Asia to study at Singapore’s flagship university, creating a pipeline of talent that will lead the region into the future. This two-part programme comprises one tuition-free undergraduate semester at NUS, and a scholarship opportunity for an NUS master’s degree.

ELIGIBILITY
– Be a citizen of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand or Vietnam.
– Be a full-time undergraduate student enrolled at a partner university.
– Be in the penultimate year of your undergraduate studies.
– Possess outstanding high-school / preuniversity qualification(s).
– Be proficient in English.
– Be nominated by your home university.

For DiscoverNUS, please contact the office responsible for international relations/study at your university to indicate your interest. That office is responsible for nominating students for DiscoverNUS, and will have more information, including deadlines.
You will need to submit your resume, which should include:
• Education history (name of high school and GPA, as well as current university GPA)
• Work, leadership, and volunteer experience
• Extracurricular activities (e.g. clubs, sports, etc.)
• Academic awards or scholarships from high school and/or university
• Demonstration of English proficiency (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS)
• Additional useful information, if available, (e.g. languages, special talents or interests)
· DiscoverNUS participants are automatically eligible for an NUS ASEAN Master’s Scholarship.

Fulbright U.S.-ASEAN Visiting Scholarship Program (USAS)

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: The regional competition Program offers grants to university faculty, foreign ministry or other government officials, and professional staff of the private sector, think tanks, and other NGOs in the ASEAN Member States to travel to the United States for scholarly and professional research for 3-4 months on priority issues to the U.S.-ASEAN relationship and ASEAN.

Selection will be based on professional qualifications of applicants, and on the quality and significance of their project proposals. The letter of invitation is optional at the time of application, yet applicants are encouraged to explore in advance the most appropriate location for their research/lecturing projects and should be able to indicate that the proposed host institutions are prepared to receive the scholars.

The grant covers a monthly stipend, a round-trip air ticket, professional and settling-in allowance, as well as lab and research fees (if applicable). Dependent expenses are not covered.

fields that support ASEAN initiatives including supporting regional economic integration, expanding maritime cooperation, promoting opportunities for women, fostering green growth, and addressing transnational challenges (including regional collaboration on issues such as curbing human trafficking, countering violent extremism, preventing wildlife trafficking or promoting sustainable fishing). Fields of study could include, but are not limited to: Education, Environmental Sciences, Financial Market Integration, Food Technology, Information Sciences, Journalism, Law, Political Science, Public Administration, Public/Global Health, Statistics, Trade and Investment, Trade Facilitation, and TEFL & Applied Linguistics. These programs and topics should also be of interest and relevance to Thailand and the ASEAN community. While projects can have specific focus, projects that are regional in scope and/or have clear implications for the entire ASEAN region are preferred.

PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT
Mid-June to mid-September

ELIGIBILITY
Be a Thai citizen in good health, under the age of 58 at the time of application deadline
Hold a master’s degree or higher in any field
Must not have held a Fulbright grant within the past 5 years
Must not have received a J-1 visa within the past two years

INELIGIBILITY
Hold U.S. immigrant visas or permanent U.S. resident cards (green cards), or dual (Thai and U.S.) citizenships
Have had extensive experience in the United States during the previous three years
Have held a Fulbright grant within the past five years
Have received a J-1 visa within the past two years

REQUIREMENTS
Be physically present in Bangkok at the time of the interview
Participate in preliminary orientation during mid-February and pre-departure orientation during the second week of June

Be willing and able to serve as a resource person and a cultural ambassador in the United States in seminars, conferences, or in other capacities requested by the host institution or community
Be prepared to participate in academic and alumni activities related to the program upon return to Thailand

ASEAN in Today’s World 2024

ASEAN in Today’s World (AsTW)

AsTW is a two-week international study program that focuses on ASEAN and East Asian affairs. It is designed for undergraduate university students from around the world. The courses are primarily instructed in English.

AsTW was launched in March 2009 in Thailand. From 2009 to 2011, it was co-organized by Kyushu University (Japan) and Mahidol University (Thailand). Kyushu University worked with Ateneo de Manila University (the Philippines) and hosted AsTW in the Philippines from 2012 to 2014. From 2015 to 2017, AsTW was held at Vietnam National University, Hanoi (Vietnam). The AsTW sessions were held at the University of Malaya (Malaysia) from 2018 to 2020. In 2021 and 2022, the program was conducted online due to COVID-19 and was jointly hosted by Kyushu University and Mahidol University. In 2023, it was held on the Salaya Campus of Mahidol University, and in 2024, it will once again be held at Mahidol University.

These six prestigious universities in the ASEAN regions and Japan, namely University of Malaya, Mahidol University, Ateneo de Manila University, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Fukuoka Women’s University, and Kyushu University, have collaborated in the AsTW program with the strong support from the ASEAN Secretariat and ASEAN University Network (AUN).

ASEAN in Today’s World 2024 will be held at Mahidol University (Thailand).

UK CHEVENING SCHOLARSHIPS 2024-2025

The British Embassy Bangkok is pleased to announce the Chevening Scholarship application window is now open from now – November 7th, 2023 (UK time.) The Chevening Scholarship scheme is the British Government’s flagship global scholarship programme. There are now more than 55,000 Chevening alumni spanning over 160 countries, which includes 600 Thai alumni.

The scheme provides a fully funded scholarship to study a one-year Master’s degree in any accredited university in the UK. Chevening Scholars also have access to tailored events and support during their time in the UK, giving them a unique opportunity to build a global network of continuing professional significance and to establish social, cultural, academic, or commercial partnerships with the UK.

Chevening scholarships are awarded to those with a proven academic record, and who are likely to be future leaders, influencers, or decision-makers in their field. We are also looking for people with a minimum of two years’ work experience and strong English language skills.

Macquarie University – Mahidol University Seed Grant

Objectives:

  • Support collaboration which leads to excellent research by teams comprising academics from both institutions.
  • Enhance the scale and focus of research in areas of mutual interest
  • Promote engagement at all academic levels through the diverse composition of research teams
  • Lead to international research training opportunities for promising doctoral candidates
  • Establish a basis for further research collaboration funded by sources external to both institutions
  • Support the development of long-term strategic research alliances between the two universities

Funding information:

  • Two joint research projects per year
  • A duration up to 12 months
  • Total funding of AUD$20,000 with contribution of AUD$10,000 on each side per project (Each researcher will receive AUD$10,000.)

Siriraj International Fellowship Training in Clinical Pain Management 2022

Siriraj Pain Management Clinical Training Center, Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University is pleased to announce the scholarship program “Siriraj International Fellowship Training in Clinical Pain Management (Academic Year 2022)“ jointly sponsored by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and the World Federation of Societies for Anaesthesiologists (WFSA).

“Siriraj International Fellowship Training in Clinical Pain Management” is a hands-on one-year fellowship program available for two outstanding multidisciplinary clinicians in pain management, treatments, and assessments for application in low-resource countries. The program will be starting on August 1st, 2022 – July 31st, 2023, at Siriraj Pain Management Clinical Training Center, Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. The successful candidates will receive waived tuition fees, accommodation, round-trip air tickets, and the stipend supported by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and World Federations of Anesthesiologists (WFSA).

China-AUN Scholarship 2022

The China-AUN Scholarship is a scholarship programme under the ASEAN-China Academic Cooperation and Exchange Programme in cooperation with the China Scholarship Council (CSC) with the financial support of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. Initiated in 2008, this programme offers 30 full scholarships annually to citizens from ASEAN member countries to pursue their Master’s and Doctoral degrees in China.
